Ready to share any parenting-related confessions?

DH is out of town and my family is on its way here; I just had a very productive morning cleaning and organizing,  but i am not going to tell DH so he keeps helping out around the house.

  • I am guilty of letting DD fall asleep beside me after her 5am feeding because I am too exhausted to keep rocking her. It's a pillow top mattress too. At first it was only once in a while but now this happens every night. I would make more of an effort to not have this happen but she sleeps so much better in our bed, so the extra sleep I get outweighs any guilt I have.

  • I'm starting to resent my husband. He still made sure he maintained his social life and has guys night twice a week but doesn't always have energy to help me with OUR baby.

My MIL wants to be called "Grandmommy" with an infasence on the mommy part it's bothering me because I think she really feels like she's MY babies mother.

I want to punch my SIL in the face because she's jealous of LO. Who the hll would be jealous of a baby?

    Omg that felt good.....

  • I send DS1 to daycare so I can sit on the couch most days and snuggle and nap with DS2. About an hour before my DH gets home I go on a manic cleaning spree to make it look like I've been busy all day around the house.

Let me preface this by saying I generally love my job and my bosses have been great about the pregnancies and kids overall.  It is a small enough firm that I'm not covered by FMLA or state leave laws, so I am lucky my employer has been fair to me and has generously agreed to pay me while on leave.

however, one of my bosses has now asked me to come in a second time to meet about a case.  This after I spent week three of my leave reviewing thousands of pages of documents at home for that case. And I got an email from the client last night at 8 asking me to call him. I forwarded it to the boss since it was a question about something he redrafted and at 9:15 he suggested I call the client because he was at dinner. Seriously?  I'm on maternity leave and in the middle of nursing the baby before I go to bed to get up every two hours to feed her.  I could have called the client last night but I didn't. I will get around to it today. And I haven't checked,y work email since 7 am because I am in no rush to have more dumped on me. I'm only out six weeks - lay off me a bit!

  • My LO is 6 weeks old and I am still afraid to take him anywhere because of germs. He has only even met a handful of family members. Someone please talk some sense into me.

  • I went back to work at 2 weeks and 4 days PP after a C-section and I didn't really care because I was able to take DS with me and I was feeling really good.

I am irrationally excited at the possibility of being cleared to take a bath at my 6 week PP appointment. I am not as excited about being cleared for sex.

  • I love your siggy pic babs. I keep trying to get a smile pic but it's always blurry.

Today is my birthday and my dad and stepmom chose this weekend to come from OKC to meet Torrin for the first time. He has forgotten it was my bday and I had to cancel plans with friends and clean house all week. I also feel like I have to entertain them and I'm not really looking forward to it. But we don't see each other that often and I need to just get over it.

    Omg ! I do the same thing !!! I thought I was the only one ! :
  • I am TERRIFIED of being cleared for sex at my 6 week check up today. Sex was always uncomfortable during pregnancy so it's been a loooong time! I may need a few drinks to relieve my anxieties!

  • I was cleared for sex at 5 weeks pp and I never told DH....I'm now 8 weeks pp and I'm wondering how long I can go without him asking about it
  • It sounds like a lot of MIL's/in-laws are crazy!

I woke up at 6 this morning with H to feed our pets.  He went back up to bed and I stayed downstairs, on the computer, savoring every drop of coffee while he and baby were upstairs. It was the first hour and a half I was able to spend alone...in the quiet, in the last five and a half weeks.

Parenting confession? Sometimes I don't change LO's diaper even though I know it's wet....for maybe 3.5 hours.  This only happens if he's sound asleep.  And....he has no rashes.

  • Baby has reflux issues and pedi told me to stick to Similac Advance instead of using sensitive or mixing it. I conveyed this to DH but I am mixing in Similac Sensitive in with the advance until I use up that entire can because formula is expensive and I can't stand the thought of throwing an opened can away (note: formula lasts for years unopened but it says to discard after a month if opened).

Also, at this point I'm enjoying cuddling the baby more than cuddling DH. I had a moment last night where I felt really disconnected from him and then I realized I didn't care b/c I wanted to keep snuggling the baby.

I do that frantic cleaning thing too sometime after 3pm. Then around 5 to 5:15 I put DD in a stroller and walk her around the block until DH comes home so it looks like I'm trying to exercise and loose weight. haha!

I think if you do this every time...it will really work as exercise! :)

  • Mine is almost 6 weeks and I haven't taken him anywhere except to the pediatrician's office and my mom's house.. Pediatrician told me it's best not to take them in public until two months, so that's what I'll do. I think you are being smart =]

  • We bedshare.. our bed is fluffy.. I try to put her in the cosleeper every time and she just won't have it so I feel like giving up! She (and I) sleeps great and sometimes uses the boob as a pillow or just snuggles into me (which scares me when I wake up and she's been smushing her face into my side if I'm on my back). I can't wait for our visitors to be done after this weekend so we can start trying the crib in her own room. She and I are both pretty light sleepers so this will be great. Or maybe I'll convince FI to keep the bed in there and she and I will sleep in there and he'll get some room and some sleep!

Another confession, related to FI's sleep.. and anything really. Sometimes it feels like a burden to him to play dad. I know that he always wakes up weird, always has, but I still hold it against him when he seems short with me if I ask him to hold her because she has the hiccups and I have to wash my hands. During the day he works from home, but if nothing's happening with his job, he plays a computer game or organizes his comics/cards. I hold that against him because I would *love* a break from being a mom, even for 5 minutes, because I pretty much take care of her all day every day. It sucks even more because I can't play that computer game, even when I do get a break! I haven't done anything since before she was born, and it blows. GAH. ok. thanks for letting me get that off of my chest.

  • I'm still upset that DH dropped the ball with Mother's Day and hasn't made an attempt to remedy it.  He makes it worse by bringing up Father's Day and what he would like from the baby.  I'm contemplating "forgetting" it's Father's Day just to make a point, even though I know he won't put two and two together.  I know its petty.

i think this is my issue with MH going out. I wouldn't care as much if I could go out because otherwise we have a healthy balance. But like you said, I can't even switch off mommy mode for 5 minutes.

  • My goal for the weekend is to have sex..... For the first time since I had my baby..... In addition to being scared , I have zero interest..... But I feel like I need to do it...and hope things get better from this point on.

And my mom and stepdad were just here..... My stepdad fixed my toilet which was in the fritz, and I don't even think I'm going to tell DH..... He doesn't seem to ever do what I ask (and i had askedhim to look at it this weekend) and hates accepting any kind of help.... I figure eventually he'll catch on. Haha!

  • I haven't washed my hair since Sunday. It's in a perpetual ponytail or else LO pulls my hair, so I figure what's the point?  And strangely, it only is starting to look dirty today.  I may actually get around to it tonight. Or maybe tomorrow.

I use DD1 and DD2 as my reason for parking in the "No Parking Zone"  (it is NOT a fire lane) when I pick up DS from preschool. The teachers will take him out of the car in the morning and will do the same at pick up.

Thought that DD2 was not as good looking as DD1 the day she was born. Not sure what that was all about, because the 2 of them look like twins now that I have had time to compare pictures, videos, etc. and they are both gorgeous. I am really embarrassed about this one.
