Parenting after a Loss

You can never have too many...

You can never have too many...fill in the blank!

I was thinking of this as I folded DD's laundry today.  Here are mine:

Changing table covers!  As a FTM, I never realized I would need several changing table covers.  Just yesterday we went through three between two pee episodes (guess the cool a/c makes her have to go in the middle of a changing) and a spit-up episode.  It doesn't happen often but when it does I am so happy I have 4 to rotate!

Burp cloths/bibs!  We go through these much more often than I thought we would.  I actually had to buy a big pack of bibs when I thought for sure that I had received way too many as gifts.

I have found pacifiers under the bed, stuck in the couch, between bouncer pads, but I can never find them when I need them!

I agree with PP - Pacifiers, bibs and socks are super important.

Michbot - We used these:  http://amzn.com/B001CDFPY0  I loved them!  They are easier to change on the fly and you can move the soiled one out from under her immediately.

I would also add pump parts.  As a EPer, it was so nice to not have to wash my parts all the time.

Toddler wise though, I'd say baby wipes.  They are invaluable when you have a tornado dstroying your house.

    Wipes and diapers.

Sleep 'n plays- I admit that I have only put DS n an actual "outfit" about 5 times since he was born.  He lives in the sleep 'n plays!

    Also, swaddle blankets.

  • Pump parts.  I was an EPer, too, and having lots of sets saved me so much time.

Swaddle blankets - my happy number was 7.  That gave me enough to only have to wash every 2 days when he'd have super spit up days.

Hooded bath towels.  We use a new one every night since they work better at getting butt cream off of your hands than a wipe.

Sheet sets and changing table covers.  4 is our magic number on both, though there was a particularly pukey night where I wished we had 5 or 6 of each.

Burp clothes, aka old-style cloth diapers.  Those suckers are so helpful!  They're great as burp cloths, puke catchers, cleaner-uppers and also as well, diapers, for airing out rashy bums.

    Hours in the day.

Hands.  There's so much stuff to carry and do.

I have way too many receiving blankets - probably 30.  I've used maybe 4 of them? Maybe it's because it's hot here most of the year, but I just don't see the point in them.

I second this. We use them and love them. I think I have 6 or 9 and it's enough to get me through to laundy day every two weeks, unless there's a crazy week.

YES! If we leave a paci on the couch, the cats steal them and play with them. Apparently they slide across hardwood floors really well! When I am running low, all I have to do is look under the couch!

Thanks for the suggestion ladies, I didn't know these even exist!  I am going to order some now.  It would definitely save me from changing the pad all the time!
