Re: Book recommendations

  • I am on a John Krakauer kick right now yes, I am about 10 years behind. I was OBSESSED with "Into Thin Air". Soooo good. Then "Into The Wild" and am now on "Under the Banner of Heaven". Great books.

  • I just finished Jodi Picoult's new book The Storyteller. It wasn't my favorite (I'm Normally a huge fan) but its worth reading.

I just finished Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It's about her experience hiking the Pacfic Crest Trail for three months alone. It's really good!

I recently read Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and loved it!

  • I just finished Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan, which I thought was pretty funny - although if you watched his most current comedy special, then there is a lot of jokes that he does in both.

The last book I read that I totally enjoyed was Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson.  It was hilarious, but it also really resonated - I have social anxiety, and totally related to her struggles.

different stuff, but I find I do not enjoy the FAD books of the moment if you know what I mean.

50 shades - I didn't even finish the first one.  Thought it was terrible

    Good in Bed - eh

Shopaholic books - they were OK but nothing to rave about

Books I have enjoyed are janet enavovich for light summer reads, Nora Roberts (some of her series were great) but again a light read.  Some of Nicholas Sparks, I love James Patterson, I read a couple of James Balduccu that I enjoyed, a couple Jodi Piquolt (Did I spell that right?), Marta Perry's Hide in Plain Sight about an amish mystery was really good.

I actually have not read very much since my oldest was born so any books from 2006 on would be great

I would recommend Dancing on Broken Glass, Water for Elephants, What Alice Forgot, and The Bronze Horseman.  Have you read Nora Roberts' Bridal Quartet series?  Those are cute and light, but still good.

haha - feel free to start a new thread.  I won't peek.  I actually am pretty good about NOT purposely going to see any spoilers on stuff like that. I just don't want to accidentally see any plot spoilers as I scroll through.  lol
