southernbear:
Not sure if this has been done recently, but I thought it could be fun, and will kill some time (for me) on a slow day at the office.
1. How long have you been breastfeeding? What are your goals?
20 months for DS2 (DS1 went 26 months or so). Goal is something after the 2 year mark.
2. FTM, STM, Other?
STM.
3. Honest opinions on supplementing?
Never did it but I think it's great that it's an option for those struggling, or adopting, etc. But women do need to be educated that BF is a demand-driven sport - the more you supplement the less you produce.
4. Nursing in public - do you cover or no?
Did with DS1. Sometimes did with DS2.
5. Favorite nursing p10osition?
I only can do one position - cross cradle. (i.e. basic one)
6. Do you pump? What's your pump-of-choice?
Yes, did at work until 1 year. Lansinoh for DS1 and Ameda for DS2.
7. Best part of breastfeeding for you?
Easy, free and awesome.
8. Worst part of breastfeeding for you?
Pumping when away.
9. Working mom or stay at home?
Working from 2 months on but out of home in the beginning.
10. Galactagogues that worked for you?
Not sure - just drank like a horse.
11. Something that kills your supply?
Nothing that I noticed.
12. Words of advice for any new or struggling breastfeeding mother?
A good LC is worth her weight in gold if you're struggling. There are tons of support resources online (kellymom, leakyboob, etc.). Hang in there - you will never regret sticking it out on a bad day.
Not sure if this has been done recently, but I thought it could be fun, and will kill some time for me on a slow day at the office.1. How long have you been breastfeeding? What are your goals?
5 months. I usually say 1 year, but I secretly hope for 2 years.
2. FTM, STM, Other?
FTM
3. Honest opinions on supplementing?
I really hope we never have to supplement. I think some women are too quick to supplement. I think if a LC has told you that you need to supplement, then you need to do what's best for baby. I get really annoyed when people only troubleshoot bf problems themselves and don't see a LC.
4. Nursing in public do you cover or no?
No, but I try to be discreet.
7. Best part of breastfeeding for you?
As he's laying on the bed, and I'm getting into side lying position, he kicks his little feet and reaches for me with his little hands and his mouth is wide open. He gets so excited.
8. Worst part of breastfeeding for you?The first 3 months because I felt like I was always nursing.
9.Working mom or stay at home? work from home
10. Galactagogues that worked for you?I eat oatmeal every day and drink one dark beer almost every night. Mostly because they taste good...
11. Something that kills your supply? I haven't noticed anything yet
12. Words of advice for any new or struggling breastfeeding mother?
Don't quit on a bad day. Also, when I asked someone about bf when I was pregnant, she said it totally depends on how determined you are to breastfeed. That reminded me on the challenging days that I was in control of whether or not bf would be successful. You have to use your resources and ask for help.
