Hello. My DD is 3w4d today. I went to the doctor and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure she rx me Septra. But looking at warnings I'm nervous to take it.

Anyone have a UTI when nursing a newborn?

  • I had one about a week and a half ago, although DS isn't a newborn. I took Cystex for the pain, and I couldn't nurse for a full 24 hours after taking it (or so said the pharmacist).

I drank a lot of tomato soup, and Emergen C (the drink). It got rid of it, but it took awhile.

You should call your doctor and ask for something that is okay for nursing. I had a UTI when I was pregnant, and they gave me something safe (I don't remember what it was though).
