Ideas for meals

DD didn't start solids until she was 6 months and really wanted nothing to do with them until she was 8 months. I don't know why, she seemed only interested in my BM.

Now, she is getting better at the chunkier stuff, but I feel like I don't give her enough variety. I almost feel like we don't eat healthy enough to feed her what we eat, but we're working on this.

Can you guys give me some healthy meal ideas that would be good for us and DD?

  • Grilled chicken, grilled potatoes and carrots.

    Lasagna and salad

    Turkey chili

    Meatloaf and baked potatoes

    Pulled pork and pasta salad

    Omletes and whole wheat toast

    Baked chicken nuggets baked sweet potato fries

    Chicken, rice and broccoli casserole

    That's what's in my freezer and on my list for a few days.

    DD has a wide variety at daycare. She has had chicken salad sandwiches, spaghetti, burritos, enchiladas, pancakes, hashbrowns, lasagna, chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, tator tot casserole, tacos and they are all served with a veggie and fruit.

  • These are the meals we most often seem to have:

    Spaghetti

    Salmon, rice and green beans

    Perogys, Italian sausage, mixed veggies

    Tacos. With this he pretty much gets ground turkey, refried beans, cheese, avocado and whatever else we decide to throw in there. I reserve meat for him before adding the seasoning mix to it because I am sure it's quite salty...

    Basically it is usually something with chicken or ground turkey. Fish usually once a week.

    Sometimes we do breakfast for supper or meatless pastas with veggies. Oh, chili is also a favorite or beef stew!

    On nights where my husband and I are eating junk, like ordering pizza, I usually just give him leftovers of whatever we had the night before, or make some soup for him. Whatever soup he doesn't eat we put in fridge and re heat for lunch the next day!

  • I always keep cooked, portioned out stuff in the freezer, like cubed or shredded chicken, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, black beans. When I'm in a bind I can defrost them and add some cheese or veggies and have a healthy meal for DS. He also loves Greek yogurt with fruit, scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, hard boiled eggs, blueberries, strawberries, mangos, and these whole wheat brown rice cakes. I just try to make sure that throughout the day he is offered a wide array of food... Fruits, veggies, healthy fats, proteins, and whole grains. I love weelicious.com; everything I have made from there is delicious and everyone can eat it.
