GTKY: What's the best thing about where you live?

I am stealing this from January.

What is the best thing about the area you live?

I used to live in Philly, so the best thing would be Cheese Steaks and Amorosa Rolls.... Now I live in MD, so the best thing is definitely the MD blue crabs :-)

SURPRISE! BFP: 12/2014 - EDD: 8/13/15

We made plans and God laughed

DS: BFP: 9/30/12 - EDD: 6/9/13

When you drive anywhere you get to see lots of baby farm animals in the spring...?

Don't get me wrong, I love me some farm country, but let's be real, South Bend is not exactly known for being a wonderful place to live.

  • I live in Colorado and the weather is unpredictable and changes so fast. It was 79 degrees on Mon. and we have 16 inches of snow of Wed, but it is almost always sunny regardless. Each day is different and you never know what it's going to be like-I love that.

The town I live in is also has more beer breweries then any other city in the US, so good and inexpensive beer is plentiful here.

  • We were in Buffalo until last summer... there I would have to say the festivals- there is a festival almost every week in summer- wingfest, italianfest, polishfest, taste of buffalo... always something to do (again, in the summer).

Now we're in Westchester County... I love the small towns and quaint village aspect along the Hudson. I love the restaurants- we tried an amazing lil taco/burrito place last weekend. Best burrito I've ever had.

Growing up in CT, I loved two things... the county fairs in the fall, and the ocean in the summer (including yummy seafood at Lenny & Joe's Fishtale!)

I live in Oklahoma and the best thing is the low cost of living.  DH and I bought our house at the height of the market and we paid $125k for a 1400 sq ft house.

The best thing about where I live right now is that it is very centrally located. It seems like just about every store I might want to go to is within 15 minutes of my house. We are also just a half an hour or so from Philadelphia, so that's great too.

I live just about an hour from Lake Tahoe. We have amazing bike trails, hiking trails and a gorgeous lake. I already got our double jogging stroller, bike trailers, and a beach tent and we plan on spending majority of the summer at the lake

I'm in the Chicago area.  I love (in no particular order): Portillo's, going to Cubs games/being in Wrigleyville (even when they suck, which they usually do), going to the city in general for amazing restaurants/bars/nightlife/comedy clubs/etc, Chicago style hot dogs, Chicago pizza (but I don't like pan pizza, I prefer Chicago thin crust), all the shopping that is conveniently so close to me - although my DH probably dislikes that part, having all 4 seasons.  I'm sure there's a ton more, but that's what comes to mind right off the bat.

I live on the dry side of WA state so we get fabulous weather together with all the things Shea said.  I'm 2.5hrs from Seattle, Portland, and Spokane but have 4 distinct seasons and love how even if there's snow on the ground, the sun will be shining.  I'm in the heart of wine country and we produce the majority of the US's hops so plenty of beer here too. Our city is small enough that I can run into peopel I know at the grocery store or Costco and I know all my neighbors by name.

Best thing about where I live? Hmmmm I live in Cleveland, OH...so it might take me a min to think of something...

The cheap cost of living. yeah. I pay under $600 in a decent neighborhood for a good 2bd apt. Our sports teams. Yeah, totally joking about that last one! Although, our baseball team isn't doing so bad so far.

I love certain neighborhoods...like Tremont, University Circle, Ohio City...I do LOVE living near water. I refuse to not live within an hour of some body of water. our current apartment is 2 blocks away from the lake and we LOVE to walk to it.

  • I live in Houston and I would have to say the best thing about living here is the cost of housing.  We are from the chicago area and our house would sell for $300k plus and we bought it for $150.  Other then that I am not a huge fan of Houston.  We are looking in to moving to Dallas next year.

Massachusetts born and raised, here. Some things that come to mind...apple cider donuts, tons of history, progressive thinking (living in the first state to legalize gay marriage is pretty awesome), beautiful foliage, health care available for those who can't afford it. Oh, and the Boston Red Sox.

This! For me I would add being close to the beach, and mountains. Close enough to go to an amazing city. Also, Sam Adams, Cape Cod Chips, Yankee candle, and the Patriots!
