I had my docotors appoitment yesterday and the lab results were finally in! They got there like an hour before my appointment!. Our baby, a little boy, had triploidy syndrome.
The spark notes versus of this syndrome is that the baby had 69 chromosome versus the normal 46. He had XXY instead of just XY. WebMD says it is a very rare genetic abnormality and happens in about 15% of all miscarriages resulting from chromosomal abnormalities.
Interesting fact: My brother had Kleinfelter's Syndrome, which is 1 extra chromosome. He had 47 and it was XXY. My doc referred us to a genetic counselor to see if this could be hereditary. She didn't think so, but she isn't that well versed in genetics so she sent us on. I'm going to do some more research before we do that though.
It is amazing how much better I feel emotionally now that we have an answer. I'm blaming this 100% on my husband and he is ok with that! ;) I feel like now that we have an answer we can move on.
Question for you all: Is 4 years a lot between kids? We are thinking about waiting until this winter to try again and Parker would be a little over 4 years older than his sibling. This sounds like a lot. We really want our kids to be close to eachother and I worry that having that much time between them would hinder that. If we do get pregnant right away they will be 3.5 years apart and 4 years isn't much more...
Thank you all so much for your support and I hope no one ever has to go through this.
