Okay, ladies, I need etiquette advice.
The women in my Bible study unexpectedly paid for our doula. We did find one that we like and is within our budget. The ladies in my study knew that we had hired one, and they each chipped in to write us a check covering the doula expense.
Their check is about $225 over the cost of our doula. Is it rude to give back that extra money? We're not strapped for cash; we are just very money conscious and frugal. We made sure we had enough to hire a doula ourselves before hiring her, so we don't need their help, but we appreciate their kindness and will accept the gift. I just don't want to accept more than the actual cost.
What do you think? How can I give back that portion without appearing ungrateful or rude?
