I was grabbing a coffee at DD this morning and there was a mom/daughter (I assume) in front of me, little girl was about 3 or 4, I'd say. Overheard "which donut do you want, Nyla?" (guessing at the spelling, of course).
I'm not sure I've heard it before, but the more I say it out loud the more I like it. Opinions?
(I'm new here, btw. Hey!).
Re: Nyla
Welcome!
I think the sound of Nyla is pretty, but it doesn't feel like it has a lot of substance. Like, it's just a pretty name, and that's it.

Hi, welcome! Hope you'll stick around...
Nyla is just sort of meh to me. It reminds me of the Nile river... It does get bonus points for being unique though!
I like it. I think it's pretty.
It kind of reminds me of Nylon.
But it's pretty. Could be worse.

I heard this name quite a bit when I was living in the Middle East. Arabic/English transliteration varied:
Nayla (most common I saw)
Naila
Nahila<span sty
I have a student named Nyla (hs sophomore).
I think it's pretty.
I've never once connected it to my dog's toys, velcro, pantyhose, the cross-country flight, or Brittany Spears. She is kind of like a lioness though. (anecd
