We used to keep a small basket with the TV/DVD remotes and some tissues in it, and I kept some magazines beside that.

It has been turned into a train table. In the basement we have four of those cubes with kids that store toys so there is nothing on top.
I have a formal living room that we never use that has a glass top table with candles and coffee table
