This was the first one he had any real success with.
We tried this first, but he could only do it without the plug in, which equaled a giant mess. Now he can use them with the plug.
Now he's able to drink from these, too, and they don't make a mess.
He still hasn't figured out straw cups yet.
Caroline only has success with a straw cup. We've been using these: http://www.amazon.com/Playtex-First-Gripper-Trainer-Colors/dp/B004E2H3PA/ref=sr_1_20?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1362402832&sr=1-20&keywords=nuby+straw.
I've only seen them leak a couple of times, but we just put water in them for now, so it's not a big issue. She's been using them for a few months now.
We have the Nuby straw cup
Also for traveling, we have the playtex flip straw cups? These are ok but I think I'm going to try finding the Nuby straw cups above that flip.
She transitioned from the Nuby sippy to the straw pretty easily. She never liked the hard spout sippy cups.
The only sippy our LO will use is the NUBY one that the "spout" is soft like a nipple. (It's a sippy top that fits into the NUBY bottle.)
It doesn't spill at all and I think the reason we have had success with it is that LO knows to suck because it feels similar to the bottle nipple.
