Trying to Get Pregnant

HCG

How far along could you be and still not have any surge detected?

Re: HCG

  • HCG isn't a surge. I've had positive digitals with a beta of 8 so I'd say it's really rare to have detectable amounts of HCG and not get a positive test.

  • Do you mean your LH surge? HCG is what a pregnancy test detects.

  • 99 percent of people will get a positive result by 18 days past ovulation, which is about 4.5 weeks pregnant. It would be really rare to be further along than that and still get a negative.

     HPT accuracy DPO
    10 dpo : 35%
    11 dpo : 51%
    12 dpo : 62%
    13 dpo : 68%
    14 dpo : 74%
    15 dpo : 80%
    16 dpo : 88%
    17 dpo : 92%
    18 dpo : 99%

So technically you could be 14dpo and still have a chance that the test isn't catching the hcg in your system. It doesn't surge though like pp stated. Hope that helps!

    BFP #2 2/3/14  | EDD 10/16/14
    First U/S 2/10 Possible TWINS!
      | Second U/S 2/24 TRIPLETS!!!

  • When you're pregnant you don't have a small window where you turn a pregnancy test positive and then they stop being positive.

So, you're not in any danger of having a sidewalk baby - if your pregnancy test says negative, it is most likely that you are not currently pregnant.

CFNBC as of August 2013. TTC since October 2011. PCOS, single fallopian tube. HSG showed tube was blocked (this is but one reason why you undergo testing BEFORE starting fertility meds, kiddos). Diagnosed with stage IV ALK+ adenocarcinoma of the lung in August of 2013. Metastases in liver, bone and brain (as of 5/2014). 1st chemotherapy treatment failed, hospitalized in November-December 2013. Started clinical trial drug in December, disease in lung is significantly less, and is stable as of May 2014. Brain tumors found during May 2014 MRI. Radiation therapy (CyberKnife) started 6/24/2014-7/9/2014 (all done!). CT 7/15 showed progression of disease in lung and liver (liver, significantly) so IV chemotherapy will begin 7/23/2014. Chemo Cycle #2 started 8/22. Never, ever giving up!!
