If any of you are wanting more babies after this LO...

DH and I definitely want more babies after this LO. But we have been discussing when to try for our second. I know that our best bet is to wait after this LO is here and see how things go. We are kinda afraid because it took us 2 years to have this baby and are worried they it may take that long again with our future babies.  I told him watch us try right after and get pregnant or wait a year or more and it take a Long time again, but of course we'd rather it be sooner than later. How long are you planning on waiting to have more wee ones??

Re: If any of you are wanting more babies after this LO...

  • We are planning on waiting another 22 1/2 years after this LO is born before trying again. A lot of it depends on H's job in the Army; will he be deployed, will he be away for training, etc.
  • We will start trying after this LO is 2. Definitely no sooner because with our luck we will get pregnant fast again. This time we concieved within our first week of trying!!! I have a friend who was told she wouldn't be able to conceive and magically at the age of 30 she found herself pregnant. Her LO is almost 2 and her and her DH are already expecting #2. No problems conceiving at all. It's almost as though her body was like "hey! I can do this!!!" =]

  • We plan on waiting till this one is at least 2. We want them to be relatively close, but we will be making a big move from Hawaii back to the mainland when MH separates service from the Navy in a year and a half. Lots of unpredictable things will be going on then!

  • We'll wait 1,5-2 years and then try for our second. We conceived this LO without even trying. I was using calendar methor of BC and it failed :) which I'm very happy about now :) I don't want big age difference between my kids so that they could play with each other and be closer.

  • I haven't thought about it too much. Before we conceived this LO, we would talk on a monthly basis about whether we were ready to have children or not, so we will probably do the same thing when thinking about having another one.

  • We are waiting hopefully 5 years for the next one ( we want 3 and would like the next two to be closer in age if possible). I'm 21 and still in college and my bf is 28 and focusing on his career so we wont be ready for awhile. This LO was conceived while on the pill so I'm hoping with whatever bc I go on after this one there isn't another big surprise until we are ready again.

  • We won't try for another for awhile. We're not sure how long; probably anywhere between 3 and 5 years after this baby comes. This LO was a surprise, and we weren't financially prepared at all. That, coupled with the fact that I have been on bed rest since 24w with no income, means it is going to take us a long time to bounce back and build up savings/pay off some debt. I hate that finances are the main factor when it comes to our family planning, but that's life I guess.

  • We are waiting 4 more years for the next one.  We are keeping college tuitions in mind & want them a little spaced out for that reason

  • We are planning on trying after he is a year. Things can change, so we will play it by ear.

  • We're waiting at least a year after this one is born to try for a second. Although if it was up to MH it would be immediately after. He's worried about being an older dad. He'll be 43 in April.

  • This pregnancy has really reinforced my desire for at least one more. However, it's a bit more difficult in my 30s than it was in my 20s. At most we'll wait 1-1.5 yrs to start trying. I don't want to be much more than 35 with #5.

  • We are going to wait until our LO turns one to try for our next child. DH is 34 and I'm going to be 27 and if it was up to him, he'd be trying right away. However, that is not the case for me. Anywhere from 1218 months is what I would like to say.

  • In Sept 2014 we are hoping to return to the resort we got married at for our 5 year anniversary and that is when we hope to start trying. LO will be almost 1 1/2. Even if we can't take the trip, we'll still try then.

  • Probably wait about a year or so before giving it a try again. We conceived on the first attempt (charting and using an OPK), which I am so grateful for, so I'm hoping that is a good sign for future attempts!

  • It would be 2.5 years before we would go for a third.
  • It appears I am in the minority here. My RE said if we want another one, we need to try right away. So I'm thinking this fall/winter trying for #2. (provided things with this LO go well and we want another one for sure)

  • IF we decide to go for another, I really like the age gap between DD and FI's DD, and this LO will have exactly the same age gap, they will all be about 4yrs apart. But I'm 30, and if we wait that long, and then we don't get pregnant right away, it'll be longer and I'll be older. I really wanted to be done having kids by the time I am 35. Either way I figure we have a few years. I definitely don't want 2 under 2! We may decide that 3 kids is enough and be done with it.

  • We tried 16 months before we conceived my DS so I didn't want to wait too long. We had planned on trying after his first bday but then my husband had surgery and my dentist recommended my wisdom teeth to be removed so the month after all that was over we tried and first time was a charm! So my LO's will be a little over 2 years apart which is basically what I had wanted.

  • After I had my DD I was ready right away to get pregnant again. My DH was as well, he's 13 years older then me and we didn't want to waste any time.

However, it took 5 months for my period to return because I exclusively pumped. When it did return my period was CRAZY. I had 2 really long cycles that were a mess.

Once I stopped pumping completely when my DD was 8 months old my period returned to normal and we got pregnant that cycle with this LO.

I would love one more but this time we're going to wait longer, I need a break!

Getting pregnant again after you have your LO I guess just depends on your body and if you decide to BF or not. I have heard a lot of stories of people that take a long time the first time around to get pregnant that decide to try right away to not waste any time and get pregnant super fast the next time. I hope this is the case for you!!!

  • I'm leaning toward this one being our last, but ask me in a year or so.  I nursed DS for 13 months and I had no desire to start another child during that time. I told DH that I need a few months to myself, my body, my life.  I stopped nursing in February of last year and then we started trying in July and got pregnant on the first try. I personally needed that time to regroup and wrap my mind around doing it all again.  To me it felt like my body didn't belong to me at all during those 2 years or so.

As for assuming that it will take you just as long to get pregnant the second time around, my friend tried for 3 years before conceiving her son.  Then she was pregnant again when he was just 6 months old even with exclusively breastfeeding.  She didn't prevent because she figured it would take just as long again.  A pregnancy can sort of reset your body.

  • IF we decide to try for a third, I would probably like to see a little more of a gap between them (DD and LO will be 18 mos apart). I plan to see how two under two goes before making up my mind. We weren't necessarily trying for this one (but weren't avoiding) and only had sex one time the entire month I got pregnant thanks to a DD who was teething and had a double ear infection and never wanted to sleep. We will definitely be more careful this time around.

  • I would love for them to be about 3 years apart like my younger brother and I are, and since we conceived this LO in the first month of trying I'm thinking we will try for LO #2 when this LO is 2 - 2 1/2.

We can't wait to meet our Blake Katherine!!
  • My Husband and I have not talked about more kids... But when we first started trying my husband said he wanted them back to back, but I think with having had 2 miscarriages it may have changed his mind.

But I did tell him that IF we had another one, it would be at least 3 years. Then again lets see how this goes. Who knows after I have her I may want to try again after 2. Who knows.

  • We are similar to you, it took us over two years of trying (no medical help except us counting days, etc) for this baby girl.   I'm also 32 and would like to have 2nd before I'm 35.    We will probably wait 5-6 months and then start trying again and just let happen what happens (but praying it's not right away or two year later. lol)

  • I think we'll start up again when this one is 1 1/2. I'd love to have a fall baby so the next summer we can bike as a family. Silly reason, but it also works with our family plan to have three before I'm 35 (I'll be 30 when this LO is born).

  • We are going to wait about three years before we try for our third. We want four children, so these two are close in age (20-21 months apart), and then there will be a bit of the gap, and we will go for two under two again. Also, the long wait will help us decide if 4 is the right number for us.

  • The whole thought of TTC/going through the IF roller coaster again kind of sends me into a panic attack. We have 2 frozen embies that we will transfer fall 2014. Because we've been told by two RE's that we have a 1% chance of conceiving on our own that will be it. But I am a big believer in miracles and pray that we get KU by a HUGE surprise.

I've enjoyed pregnancy so much. It's bittersweet that it's coming to an end. I really hope I get to experience this again.

  • Still team one and done
The word you're looking for is SEX.  I promise.  No, it's not gender.  It's sex.  You're welcome.
  • Not sure if we are doing the one and done thing or not.  I'm 33 and my husband is 36 so if we do decide to have one more, we would want it to be in a relatively short amount of time.
