March 2013 Moms

What are some cute or stupid things your DH has said/thought so far?

By now DH pretty much knows everything about pregnancy but with DS1 he spit out a couple of these gems:

Trying to conceive: "I don't believe in ovulation"

Registering: "Wouldn't it hurt to use a nipple brush??"

Child Rearing: "I don't want him exposed to all this lame music.  I want him to learn The Doors and classic rock."

Me: "I'm pretty sure no one in pre-school is going to think he is cool if he knows The Doors, but he will get some side-eyes if he can't recite The Wheels on the Bus!"

Future Parenting: "I hope the boys don't ask me about condoms. I'll be like what are those??"

Me: "I'll handle the sex talks...."

  • Your DH sounds like a riot!

  • Ha ha! Those are some good ones!

SS, age 11, asked DH to go into his room the other night because he had a "question" for him. Obviously I knew this was probably something puberty-related as SS has had a lot of those types of questions recently.

Anyways, DH came out of SS's room, pointed at my belly, and said, "You get to answer these questions with the next one." (LO is also a boy)

Ha! I don't THINK so! I'll be having these types of talks with SD when the time comes. lol Although, really, if I were a single parent, I would make sure to give my kids, either sex, all the info. they would ever need. I teach about it at school anyways.

Sidenote: SS would kill me if I shared this but what he doesn't know won't hurt. The question he was asking about? What the lint-like stuff on his junk was. The convo. apparently went something like this...

SS: Dad, there's lint-like stuff down there. It's dark.

DH: Umm...what colour is your underwear?

    SS: Navy blue

DH: Is the lint-like stuff navy blue?

    SS: Err...yeah, it is.

    DH: It's lint, bud.

Bahahahahaha! It's just funny because SS is sooo observant of every little thing these days. He discovered pimples in his armpits the other day and didn't want to wear a basketball jersey in gym class because of it. *sigh* Oh the joys of growing up...

  • I'm almost 37 weeks with our first child. My husband and I were talking about labor the other day and this gem comes out of his mouth, " you mean you don't just go to the hospital and it pops out?" I was like, no, sometimes you are in labor for hours at the hospital not to mention being in labor at home. Then I get, "we'll, that's what my mom said happened to her. She threw up, and then out popped the baby"

oh dear, I'm in trouble. Haha.

  • Re: the lint conversation, that made me laugh out loud!!  I'm having a boy and have no idea what to expect when it comes to the puberty conversations...  I hope my husband develops a good way of having these conversations.

Regarding the OP, I wish my husband has as many hilarious insights!

  • hubby: so after the baby's born, i take her out into the waiting room to show her to family, right?

me: no, she is not simba, you are not mufassa, and the waiting room is not pride rock... after we're both cleaned up, people will come into our room to see her.

like he'd get the baby out of my arms anyway lol

  • Sounds like my DH! Lol.

Some of my favorites from the hubby are...

First words said when finding out I was pregnant: "Why do you have a pregnancy test?"

On my current weight gain: "Pretty soon you're not going to be able to fit into my clothes."  and "It looks like you swallowed a watermelon."

He's also guessing we're going to have a giant 15 lb baby that's close to 23 in long because I'm so huge. Thanks sweetie. lol

  • We decided that since I didn't care either way, and because it would mean a lot to my mom, that we were going to invite her to be at the birth of this baby (which will be our last). I was telling him that I hope it's not awkward for her to see my "vag". His response was "Well at least she'll be seeing your vag at it's finest!" Gotta love him!

hehe, glad to hear that :)  i also had to explain to him why i didn't want his mother and brother in the room immediately following the birth... he did not realize that for the most part, women give birth relatively nude, and may be covered in poo and goo.

Yes, but I've been obsessed with this clip from Modern Family and really want to make DH do this when we take the baby to meet his parents for the first time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aSzTVrP5FQ
