I have a 2010 Kia Soul+ and I am about to rip my hair out over installing my freaking car seat.
I wanted to install it in the middle with the LATCH system. I tried that, tightened it as much as possible, and it wiggled too much (car seat manufacturer says no more than 1 inch). Then I read my car owners manual; oh, the anchors are only meant for the outer seats and can't be used for the center seat.
Okay then, so I try installing it in the center with the lap and shoulder belt. It STILL wiggles too much no matter how tightly I pull the belt. The middle seat is shaped awkwardly (it is basically a huge bump) and I think that is what the problem is. If the car seat slides too much, it slides off the edge of the bump and leans.
Last resort, I tried installing it on an outer seat, the only place it's tight enough and now you can't sit in the front passenger seat without your face being in the air bag. You can forget sitting in it period if you're more than about 5'10".
Also, my car is a Top Safety Pick, but it scares me to have the baby on an outer seat with the side and curtain air bags. I don't know what else to do. I followed the instructions for the car seat, my cars owner manual and I've tried Google and car forums. I don't know what else to do. Call Kia and ask them how they expect to put a rear facing infant seat in their stupid car?!
