6 weeks on Friday.... Need to start some kind of routine.... What is yours?
At 6 weeks our evenings went like this:
Eat around 7-730, burp, play.
8-830 take a bath (every other day, on off days we wiped up and lotioned up, put on PJ's
Around 9-930 eat again, burp, then put down in PNP with almost no light.
Usually back up around 11 for his last feeding before sleeping (total dark) until 4-5am.
Now he's almost 8 weeks, and we're trying to eliminate that 11pm feeding. He's sleeping longer now so we're stretching out the times and getting him full and off to bed in his PNP in total dark around 10pm and he'll sleep until about 6am.
My LO is 7 weeks and we do the following:
Bedtime routine (including bath) around 7-7:30pm
Eat, sleep in crib... usually makes it until around 9:30-10pm, and then I feed again and she comes to bed with me. She alternates between sleeping next to me and sleeping in her cradle depending on the night and how fussy she is. We don't really have a "routine" - she typically wakes sometime between 12-1am and 3-4am to eat, but goes right back to sleep. Every baby is different as far as how long they sleep at night... I don't think we'll be doing long stretches for awhile (long meaning more than 4-5 hours at a time), LO likes to eat too much :)
We started a routine around 4w so DS can get used to it, but it really didn't work all the time until he was 8-9w old.
DS has his last nursing between 7-8pm, then we bring him upstairs to our bedroom (very dim lights). Diaper change, give dose of gas drops, swaddle/bedtime story, then bounce until he's drowsy. We put him down in his crib drowsy but awake, and he usually falls asleep within a minute after being put down. These days it takes us around 10mins of bouncing to get him drowsy.
When he was 6w, the bedtime routine can take anywhere between 1hr to 3hrs... but we stuck with the routine anyway.
