We had an appointment with a specialist last week and she suggested our 10 month old baby wear a helmet to correct his soft spot. We went to an appointment this afternoon to get him fitted and the helmet will arrive in about 10 days. He did great at the appointment and didn't have any trouble with the photos or the scan. He is such a trooper. It looks like we may be getting one of the clear helmets but that will not be determined until the measurements are analyzed this afternoon. I am looking for advice, preparations, anything that might help. I was upset when I found out that he would definitely need it but I am slowly coming to terms with it. I can't remember seeing a baby in one of these helmets before last week. Did I not notice them or have I just not seen anyone? How do other people react when they see a child wearing one? I know he is young and probably doesn't care but I just don't know what to expect. We plan on decorating the helmet with stickers to make it less clinical looking and try to make this a fun thing. What kind of stickers should we use? I would like something that can be easily removed (not so much so that our son can remove them!) so we can customize it for holidays or just to change it up. This has been emotionally taxing...
It looks like he will be wearing it for 3-6 months depending on his growth rate.
Any stories or advice would be helpful.
