Today was a tough day for me. I threw up three times, once on the side of a building, and generally have felt very nauseous and weak. (I throw up daily, sometimes twice daily, as a rule.)
Anyway, I still went to dinner with my husband because I wanted to get out of the house to prevent myself from sleeping anymore, as sleeping too much seems to give me a headache. At dinner, before any food or drinks came, I felt dizzy and faint. The room was spinning. This never happens to me. I drank some root beer and felt better -- still weak, but I wasn't going to faint anymore.
I'm kind of concerned because before getting pregnant I ate Paleo (meat, veggies, plus limited fruit and nuts) most of the time, so my sugars and processed foods were limited. After the morning sickness set in at 5 weeks 3 days, I was reduced to eating more carbs and starches because I couldn't stomach much else. A few weeks ago I was able to resume eating meat and veggies, but I'm still eating more "junk" than usual, as I'm normally too sick to cook and don't always have access to Paleo foods. Not an enormous amount by any means, but definitely more than pre-pregnancy. I've been diagnosed as pre-diabetic previously but got rid of that diagnosis by going Paleo and losing weight.
My question is, is it possible I've started a dangerous pattern of high and low blood sugar? Am I making things worse by eating fruit or a cookie when I'm feeling a bit down, therefore programming my body to become dependent on the sugar?
Would love some ideas/thoughts/advice. Thanks so much!
