So, I had the most painful stomach bug of my life last night, that I'm getting over today. It started out with excruciating mid-back pain and ended up with stomach pains that literally kept me up all night. Not to be a drama queen, but I didn't know if I had ever been in so much constant pain in my life. Truly.
I remember literally thinking, "If this is how painful labor is, screw Natural Birth - I am SO getting an epidural." I felt like I would have done anything just to make the pain stop. That thought was actually pretty discouraging! So, I got to thinking... most people aren't in *constant* pain while they labor, and it's definitely a different kind of pain than that of an illness. This is probably a stupid question (so, flame away lol), but should I take my inability to deal with the agony of last night as a clue that I am SO NOT READY for what I'm about to get myself into, as far as med-free birth goes? Or am I psyching myself out needlessly?
Just wondering what some of you think. Thanks :)
