So, just a little background, I'm a FTM, 34, almost in my 30th week, about 25 lbs overweight before I got pregnant, and was doing reasonably well with my eating during this pregnancy (I had some cheats, not gonna lie, but for the most part really tried to eat healthy.) I found out yesterday that I failed my glucose test (wasn't even close to passing) and do in fact have gestational diabetes. The doctor said baby girl is still doing well, but I still cried and cried thinking I had really messed up. Now that I'm getting over the initial shock of the news, I'm really in a new mindset. Problem is, that I'm not meeting with dietician until the new year, and the doctor told me to just do my best for the next few weeks.
So, I have two questions... besides common sense garbage food, anybody have good suggestions for things to REALLY stay away from? Anything besides fruit that works for a sweet tooth (whole wheat toast and nutella?) Also, is there a good support group or anything that you would recommend? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies!
