Hi All -
Feeling really down today after my first failed IUI with clomid. if you had success using IUI - how many did you do? what meds? Would love some positive info to give me some hope! Thanks!!!
My first two IUIs were with clomid and a trigger shot. Both were unsuccessful. Years later we did IUI again and that time I used high dose Femera. The first of those didn't work so we added in some Follistim along with the Femera and that IUI resulted in a baby boy.
I loved doing the hybrid cycle, using both oral meds and a little bit of injectables, because it produced more follicles for me but without being as expensive as an all injectable cycle.
Good luck to you.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.
This Cluttered Life
Hi there - don't feel down! Clomid often does not work for people. Sometimes it does, and I'm not sure what your diagnosis is, but many women that have ovulation issues need injectables added to their protocol. Clomid didn't do anything for me (except give me hot flashes and make me moody...good times) and it took until the 4th IUI for my doctor to find the right med dosage that worked for my body.
My BFP cycle was Femara + Gonal-F injects + trigger shot and then afterwards I took progesterone suppositories. She also let my eggs "cook" a little longer and get bigger in my BFP cycle than we had in the past.
IUIs can be tough because women often have to go through a bunch of them to find the protocol that works for them but keep the faith and hang in there - Clomid may not be the right drug for you. Talk to your doctor and see if she recommends trying something different. Often they make you try Clomid a few times before moving forward with injects (my doctor did).
I'm sorry about your last failed cycle/ I got the "gift of AF" today on Xmas...depressing, so i feel your pain!
I have had 2 failed clomid.ovidrel IUI cycles where evertyhing "looked" perfect according to dr. all reulting in BFN.
I would like to try femara but my RE won't prescrbie it. I'd also like to learn more about the indtroduction of follitism or something else in there also as I am trying to avoid IVF due to OOPE. The full injectable IUI cycles are already $4k.
I'm wondering if I should look for a new RE that prescribes femara to try more less evasive options. What do you ladies suggest?
For my first son and 2nd son- I did 3 rounds of b2b's. (got BFP on 3rd round)- (using injectibles- follistim and ovidrel)
I just did 3 rounds of b2b's to conceive again. Praying it sticks.
Good luck and do not give up!
