I?ve had a hunch for a while now that house guests affect DS?s sleep. He was never a good enough sleeper before to say for sure, but it seemed that he would start to decrease his night wakings from 4 to 2, then we?d have company and it would go back to 3 or 4. For the last couple months, he has consistently been waking twice (about 1am and 4am) and then finally, for the past 8 nights or so, actually sleeping 9 to 10 hours, waking around 5:30 to nurse, then back to sleep until 7. Hallelujah! Since he is almost 12 months, I thought this was a major breakthrough and the new ?normal.? Then my mom arrived and last night, he woke at 1am and 3:45am, both times needing to be nursed to get back to sleep. UGH. We will have company here for the next 3 weeks straight, and since we live in Florida and have lots of friends/relatives in the northeast, we are a revolving door of guests from now until April. If it were just a week then I?d suck it up and get up with him each time. But I think I need to let him cry himself back to sleep if he wakes up any time before 4am, even though he really cries and doesn?t go back down easily. Anyone else have thoughts on this or deal with something similar?
