I found a posting on CL for a Jardine Olympia crib, plus dresser/changing table, for $300. The crib itself retails for around $400, so this sounded like a good deal for crib and dresser. However, when I googled the crib model, one of the first links that popped up was about a recall:
I emailed the seller back to ask about the date code since I was aware that some were affected by a recall, and she emailed back to say that it was affected, but that they received the kit eliminating the issue.
If you look at the press release on the recall (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09207.html), it doesn't say anywhere on there about a "kit" -- rather, it says consumers should contact Jardine for an alternate replacement crib.
I really like the nursery set and the price is good. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but not at the expense of my child's safety. Anyone heard of a kit that eliminates the recall issue or know where I could find that info?
ETA: I did just find this other press release that mentions another model that did have a kit that fixed the recall issue: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09207.html. I am still waiting for the seller to email me back the exact model number and date code so I can further research this. But would you buy a recalled product that had supposedly been "fixed?"
