Daycare Holiday Gift

We go to a home daycare run by an amazing woman. We live in a very HCOL area and are lucky to pay very little on daycare. I was going to give $200 cash as a gift, but my sister says its inappropriate and will make daycare provider uncomfortable.

i disagree with your sister. I know lots of people who pay nannies one week's pay for a holiday bonus.  I think $200 is a great gift.

While its a nice gesture, I'm not giving quite as much. But we are also bringing the kids in during the holidays be cause I'm working a few days and dh gets so overwhelmed alone with both kids. Plus the kids need the structure and are in the routine of going. So I'm still paying for a regular week. Haven't decided what I'm giving her yet....

I think that's a great idea. I wont' be giving that much, but will be giving gift cards.  DH is the Head of School of a Montessori school here (sister school of LO"s) and from what I can tell through my interactions with teachers...the gifts are appreciated, cash and gift cards help them spread Christmas cheer int heir own homes.
