DH said yesterday that he loves the name Nellie for a girl. I actually think it's kind of cute! I like Millie and Tillie better, but it's got me thinking....
What could Nellie be a nickname for?
Nellie/Nell are traditional nicknames for Eleanor.
Eleanor and Penelope
Anna Catherine 7/23/2012, 35 weeks 5 days, 5 lbs 5 oz (PProm)
Baby Sam 10/4/2013, 36 weeks 2 days, 5 lbs 14 oz
Also Helen and Helena?
My first thoughts were Nell, Penelope, and Eleanor/Elinor.
TTC: 07/2012 - BFP: 9/30/12 - EDD: 6/9/13
Radley Quinn was fashionably late via induction on 6/17/13
#2 - Here we go again! EDD - 4/9/13
I had a friend growing up named Danelle and her nn was Nellie
Janelle also comes to mind, as well as pp Eleanor
Our cat is Penelope, and we mostly call her Nellie. Wish we hadn't used it on the cat and saved it for a little girl!
But I also love Eleanor nn Nellie.
Nell/Nellie is an old nickname for Ellen, Helen, and Eleanor (and related names ? Elena, Helena, Eleanora, etc.).
I also like it as a nn for Penelope.
I also know a Petronella nn Nell, but I am assuming that your baby will not be an old Italian woman.
