I've always had Margaret on my list but I also like Magdalena or Magdalene because it's less common. I've posted a few times about Margaret not feeling quite right as of right now. I've posted about dealing with popularity. I started reading 19th century literature when I was 10 years old. And aside from a crazy year or two as a teen when I liked you-neek names, I've loved those names. I'm hating the old lady trend now because it's making all the old names I've loved more popular. I'm an actual historian and actually want people to realize that the names I've picked are old and uncommon and not be thinking "Oh, yeah part of the old is new trend." Though it might not matter much if we plan to call her Maggie. At the same time, I have more sentimental attachment to Margaret (not family though). Magdalena/Magdalene would just be because I like the sound of it and I like that it's less common.
DH prefers Margaret but there's still a chance.
