I need opinions from other moms. We have been lucky enough to avoid having to use daycare or child care at all up until this point. We used to live in an area where my husband was able to watch Cadence and also make some money on the side. As many of you know, we moved over the summer and now live in an area where that isn't possible. Yesterday he got offered a job. It is for second shift so he would go to work from 2-10:30 Monday-Friday. I currently work 7:30-4. So we'd really only need someone to watch her from 1-4:30 or so everyday. We could probably find a daycare that could take her for that time, but then what do we do with nap time? She normally goes down for her nap between 2-3 and then sleeps until 5:30. I'm thinking that if she went to daycare for a half day, then nap time just wouldn't happen. There will be all these things to do and friends to play with that she just wouldn't get a nap. I don't think she's ready to eliminate the afternoon nap completely. So then I'm brought to the idea of trying to find a college student or someone that would want to come to our house and basically be there while she takes her nap. They'd come over and feed her lunch, play for a bit and then put her down to nap and basically just sit there and study or watch tv or whatever while Cadence took her nap. I don't even know how much to pay someone to do something like that. It would be EASY work. She's a super easy kid so I wouldn't want to pay very much....like $20/day. Is that lame? too low?
What would you guys do if you were in this situation? Obviously this all changes after baby is born, but I'm not even thinking that far ahead at this point.
