So I just recently got back some health care coverage after a year of no insurance and was able to go to the doctor Yay!
I have PCOS, haven't had a period since August, and only had one then b/c I was talking oral B.C.
I had a full blood panel done, glucose, thyroid, hormone levels (including testosterone) all "normal" .
I have been on Met. the past 2 weeks, nothing has changed yet. My doc. suggested Spironolactone. Any one on this?
If my testosterone was not high and I'm TTC ( it can cause birth defects!) why would my doc even think about prescribing me this? I am not going on birth control every again.
It seems to me that this Rx is mostly for people who are not TTC, have high testosterone, and problems with facial hair. I have a bit of a mustache ( I wax/pluck it about every other month) but I'm friggin' Sicilian.
In addition why would my doctor keep me on Met if all hormone and glucose levels were normal? He tried to explain to me but he looked confused himself. I would go to another doctor but his clinic is the only one covered by my plan right now. Just a little bit longer and I can get a referral to an endocrinologist.
