I went in for my 20 week utrasound and everything checked out fine, but the doctor did say that the baby had some kidney pelvis dilation (pyelectasis). They like the number to be less than 4mm and it was around 4.1 in both kidneys. My doctor did not seem concerned and said that most cases resolve before the baby is born, but it still really freaked me out. The last thing I want is for my baby to have kindey damange. It is also a soft marker for downs, but we had the first tri screening and they gave us a 1 in 10,000 chance of the baby having downs. I am not as concerned about downs as I am about the baby's kidneys. Has anyone else experienced this?? I guess it is a very commong finding, but this did not put my mind at ease. Any other stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
