Our trip was awesome! We had so much fun!
DD loved playing in the ocean and waves. She also loved screaming at the fish in the aquarium, eating out almost every night, and all the people who were so kind to her. She also loved our boat trip. Maui is definitely a baby friendly zone!
I was thankful to have bought her a seat - she was so happy! She never cried coming or going. She was a delightful travel companion and got many compliments.
Star performers on our trip were:
The Chicco Liteway - She napped in it, she ate in it, we walked all over with her in it. I did by a "gate check" bag for it for like $12 and was really glad I did as others had stroller damage. Mine escaped unscathed.
The Boba Baby Carrier - It was perfect for hiking or going into places where the stroller couldn't, also great for naps. Has a nice attached shade cover. Loved it!
Munckin White Hot Cling Shade - I can't say enough good stuff about this product. They are big, effective and really protected DD from the sun in the car. https://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Two-White-Cling-Shades/dp/B002G5I0YK/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1352922030&sr=1-1&keywords=munchkin+white+hot+cling
Swimways Baby Spring Float with Canopy - She loved paddling around in the hotel pool in this and also some of the protected lagoons and bays around Maui.
Kidco Peapod Plus Ultra Light Travel Bed - This thing is like a little pop up tent we threw down on the beach in the sun for DD to sleep in, we also used it as a crib the first night when we hadn't gotten ours yet. She loved playing in it and didn't seem to have a problem sleeping in it at the beach.
Anyway, I hope all was well here.
Re: Hawaii Trip - Baby Travel Success!
we are headed to Maui in January with our daughter and some friends who also have a baby. Thanks for the recommendations!
Sorry! I forgot that little detail!
My DD is going to be 8 months tomorrow.
Some baby recommended activities - The Aquarium by the harbor was magical for her. She loved the big sharks. There is a place called "Baby Beach" that she just loved and we got to play a lot because it was very protected. There is also a protected pool for babies and kids at Baldwin Park which is a great first place to take them.
Everyone was SOOO nice to us and there were literally hundreds of people with babies - many of them younger than DD and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic time.
Be prepared to do everything a little slower.
If anyone is interested we did a weird thing to make her sleep in places she had never been before. We have a little blanket like 7"x7" with satin on one side and fluff on the other and one of the Fisher Price lullaby seahorses. A few weeks before we left we only let her have these things at naps and bedtime. When we were on Maui, if we pulled them out, she would be like, "Yep, time for a nap." and out she would go within a few minutes. It was helpful when we knew there was time for a nap at the moment, but not later in the day.
We also formula feed, so we used the Enfamil "Ready to Eat" on the plane so there was one less thing to worry about and carry. She did great with it and it was sooooooo convenient.
Bring swim diapers with you! They are very marked up over there.
