My son is 2 months old and almost 14 pounds. My sister kept telling me to let him cry in the middle of the night instead of going to get him as soon as he makes noise for his midnight feeding. So I started this on Sunday night. He woke up around 3:30AM, and I just laid there listening to him. He would cry once or twice and then just make his noises. I ended up falling asleep and woke up around 4:30AM and he was sleeping. He didn't get up til we woke him at 6:30AM. I did the same thing last night, and he just made noises for about an hour or so and went back to sleep. He doesn't scream crying, or cry for longer than a second or so at a time.
I am hoping that by allowing him to put himself back to sleep, that he will learn to sleep through the night and hopefully stop waking up at 3:30 every night. Has anyone else's baby done this? Does this lead to him sleeping completely through the night? How long does it take?
