Okay so my hospital (which really sucked) taught us how to swaddle. They told us to wrap her arm in the blank it, put it over her chest and tuck the side under her. Then do the same with the other arm so that her arms were lying across her chest. Well my baby is a little over 9 weeks and she hates to be swaddled. Then I read the happiest baby on the block and they said to swaddle with the arms down at their sides. Would this actually make a difference? I haven't tried this yet since she is sleeping. Just curious if arm position really matters!
We use this method, with these specific blankets. However, we keep near our daughter's arms a little loose or we don't swaddle her arms since she loves her hands by her face and gets upset otherwise. https://www.adenandanais.com/learn/howtoswaddle.aspx
I always have done arms at sides. With my second I had to start doing a home made miracle blanket. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad0x_zAQC5A My first was so easy that I was able to use the SwaddleMe 'till we stopped swaddling at 4 /12 months. DS just was too strong and wiggly and was breaking out of it by 4 weeks. That technique in the video worked for a long time.
I started putting her arms at her side but she would get so mad she couldn't wiggle free anymore I had to buy a halo to even get her swaddled in the first place!
