i would never have thought of that - Ash isn't a nn for Asher to me...other than Henry being called Hen - which is very rare
I really like both of those names, but can't use them because our last name is Burns.
I think if it bothers you find something else you like just as much. I know with my last name I couldn't do it without feeling self-concious about my choice.
