Trying to Get Pregnant

7 DPO Progesterone Level

Good Morning!

I noted this in my 2WW post, but thought I would ask here as well... I had my 7 DPO progesterone levels taken yesterday, and they came back at 7.3 ng/ml.  The lab result sheet that I have says "Female Reference Range:  Luteal Phase 2.0-20.0 ng/ml."  Does that mean anything between that is normal, because 2.0 seems low.

I haven't talked to my Dr. about this yet, but have been googling to try and figure out if this is still ok.  There are a lot of mixed answers out there of course, and was wondering what you ladies thought.  Thanks!

Re: 7 DPO Progesterone Level

  • I believe anything over 5 means that you did ovulate. I know my RE likes for it to be 10 on non-medicated cycles and 15 on medicated ones.

  • A 6 or more is indication of ovulation.  Usually they like to see over a 10.  a 7.3 is not bad, but it may require progesterone when you get a +hpt.

My 7dpo progesterone was 7.5 and I would always start spotting at 6-7dpo.  I was started on progesterone in the LP and it made a world of difference.  There are some women with the same exact number, and have no issues with spotting.

I would talk to your doc if you have concerns.

Yes  RE might place you on progesterone suppositories - last month my level came back at 7 and they had me take 200mg 2x a day until AF or BFP. GL

  • Thanks Ladies!  I am glad to know that it seems to confirm ovulation, but I thought that was on the low-ish side.  Thanks for the quick responses!
