Are any of you 1st timers showing yet?

I know that experienced mommies tend to show earlier but OMG!  My in-laws came for an out-of-state visit and we were going to surprise them with our news, but my MIL knew right when she saw me!  She came right over to me for what I thought was going to be a hug, but then she put her hand on my belly bump!  I asked her if it was that obvious... she said she could tell right away!   I'm almost 12 weeks... is anyone else showing?  I feel like I need to do sit ups :-/ Yikes!

  • yes sadly :( This is my second pregnancy and I am terrified to see how huge I will be if i'm already this noticeable.

  • No, I'm not showing, but I'm definitely 'thicker' through the hips/waist (this has resulted in a lack of skirts/pants that I can now wear). I know that both have expanded to accommodate my growing uterus, but I haven't popped at all. So nope, not showing.

  • I am hypothesizing that my pre-baby belly (where I tend to carry extra weight) has just been displaced by my uterus and migrated upward to a more innertube-like chub. I'm only 11 w but definitely notice some things are really uncomfortable around my waist--such as my favorite lulu lounge pants. Those have been banished in favor of my old navy fleece pants or foldover waistband yoga pants.

I am paranoid that people at work will notice so I employ the tried and true tv sitcom method of placing things in front of me in meetings, like a notebook, or bringing a scarf into our frigid conference room. I hope they just think I have been hitting the cupcakes until I'm ready to tell them!

  • Do I look pregnant?  Yes.  Is it actually my uterus?  No...it's all the intestines and recently-eaten food that my uterus has pushed up into my very short torso.  As I wrote a couple posts down, there's not much place for that stuff to go when you're less than five feet tall.  I've had multiple people tell me I'm showing.  My friends who are short and have had kids said they started showing early too.

Exactly what is bolded above! lol..most of my friends and family now know, but in regards to showing....I cannot quite see it yet.  Sometimes, I think I can, but it is still softer feeling, and I have heard the bump will be distinctly hard?

  • Yup! I am 14 weeks and have a bump. Geeked I know a lot of it is food, but a lot of it is baby too soooo.....its my bump
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • If I suck it way in, most of it goes away, but if I lay down things are definitely rounded, which makes me think at least some of it is legit. And it's bigger than the picture I took at 12 weeks.

This.  Belly is consistently bigger, but I'm pretty sure it's just my uterus pushing everything else up.  Things still button, but not when I'm sitting.  I used to have a narrow waist compared to my hips, but now it just looks like I'm thick from the boobs down.  Tried belting a dress for a party, looked like a sausage.  Had to look like a slob in jeans.  I look like I've gained 20 lbs even though it's more like 2.  Hopefully soon I'll look like I'm pregnant and not just fat!

This.  After lunch and for the rest of the day it's crazy baby bloat. But no baby bump yet!

  • I'm not really showing but there's a belly. My clothes are fitting tighter but I can still button things. Just uncomfortable after awhile. It was really awkward the other day when BFF said you do not look pregnant at all and I said well what does it look like? ::crickets:: DH does say that I have a little baby belly though.

  • I am definitely showing, but it only started about a week ago. For the first 13 weeks, it was all lovely blump and lunch. :o) Now, I can feel the top of my ute just below my belly button (it seems to get higher every day!) and all of the bump below that is hard and can't be sucked in. Everything above is squished organs + lunch.

BethParr - I *totally* feel you.  I also have a super short torso and am insanely worried about where the next 26 weeks of baby growth is going to go...

  • I just posted a few days ago about not being able to tell I am pregnant. However, I think I "popped" overnight! I've had 4 coworkers tell me today that I am really showing and it is undeniably a baby belly.

Showed up at 12w6d (yesterday) :) Standing, I am definitely thicker in the middle than a few weeks ago! It's poking straight out , not rock hard, but like others have said it's a combo of baby and displaced viscera.

Edit: I'm 5'1, 128lbs and a first time mama! Really not sure why I'd be showing now, I know there's only one in there!

  • It's still very hide-able and not a defined bump but my tummy has taken on a more rounded appearance. Somehow, I can still button my jeans but other articles of clothing, not so much. Mostly, I just feel fat. :(

THIS!! I'm 5'1" but for my torso is super short for my body. It's definitely not my actual bump that's showing yet, but it's for sure pregnancy related and I just made the public announcement on Thursday, so I'm not really trying to hide it anymore. And it's just SO much more comfortable to go ahead and wear things where I can just let me belly go.

I'm afraid to see how huge I get with such little room between my pelvis and chest!

  • my bloat is much more pronounced, but I'm not sure I'd call it showing yet. I lost 18lbs though so my stomach is a bit slimmer than it was when I got my BFP.

  • This is my first and I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. My stomach is noticeably larger but I think it's because I'm usually a size 0 with rock hard abs. I feel like my belly has doubled in size! To people who don't know me I probably just look like I ate to much:) I am going to start telling family and friens this week so hopefully I won't feel too self conscious about hiding my little belly anymore.  None of my pants and skirts button anymore so I've been wearing dressses.
  • This is my first and within the last week I have noticed a constant little bump, not like the bloat bump that would come and go before.  I've given up and worn maternity pants on some days because they are just more comfortable!

  • YES!  I have only gained 5 lbs, but they ALL seem to be around my belly button.  And I haven't been running as much as I used to, but I am trying to get in around 20 miles/week!  I am kind of hoping that I stay this pregnant looking for a few weeks, because if not, everyone is going to comment on how "ready to pop" I am before Thanksgiving hits!
  • This is my first, and I popped over the weekend...seemed to be right when I hit the 12 week mark.  Before that it was just bloat....no more bloat, just a bump now!!  I bought maternity pants on Sunday and I LOVE them!!!!

  • I definitely have started a small "pop." When it was earlier and def. just bloat, it was sort of higher and looked like a beer belly.  Now that I'm almost 14 weeks I noticed that my very low abdomen is starting to spring out and it's looking more like a baby belly.  I'm sure it's mostly uterus, but I'll take that over mostly water retention! Wink
  • I popped early last week like a meat thermometer. But mostly I think it is all my squishies being move up and out of the way for my uterus.  My mom thinks I have a baby bump, but I keep trying to convince her it is my fat. But I can really feel my uterus now.  Can't wait for Friday when I tell everyone our news! I have been wearing looser clothes to work and finally bought a tummy sleeve and some maternity tops last week to deal with it.

  • I'm not a 1st timer but I'm definitely round in the middle. I've also gained 5 lbs already, compared to 1.5 at this point last time around, and I look like I've gained even more.

I'm not a fan, really. Last time I wanted that bump and it took FOREVER- despite being 5'2" with a short torso, and gaining 30 lbs, I never got very big and LO was tiny. This time I'd love to stay small but it's not looking promising!

  • I'm clearly showing and it's not really possible to hide it anymore even with loose cardigans over flowy shirts. Everything below my belly button is definite baby bump, but I'm pretty sure everything above is still displaced intestines.

  • Im 13 weeks and 3 days... and Im not quite showing yet.. but people at work think i am... but I still say its bloat.. but there isnt much of a differnce when I suck in thou.. so some might be bump but not hard yet!!! Also I have gained 13 lbs.. but gained the weight back from what I had lost previously before I got pregnant!! Just cant wait for the baby bump and for this uterus to move off my bladder!!! lol

  • Yes! I am a first timer, currently 14 weeks and I started showing right in the middle of my 13th week. I feel HUGE already and NONE of my clothes fit! Since I "popped" I am constantly looking for flowy tops to hide things since I haven't told work yet! It's really exciting, but also crazy - I have aches in my uterus area all the time because of how fast it is growing!

  • I'm a FTM and definitely feel like I am showing a bit. I see people stare at my stomach (they probably are having a tough time deciding if I'm pregnant or just have a terrible beer belly). It's hard and I can't suck it in. I freak out about it, but DH just says I'm silly because I AM pregnant and that I should be showing. I think it helps make it more real for him. When I started feeling sick in the beginning he actually looked happy/excited.
