TravelSnob:Elle E AH
This is how I first read it.
Bemyselfandi:So, how do you pronounce it correctly?
Like the singer, Aliyah! If I spelled that correctly, I'm not sure.
I was thinking "ELLE-e-ah" or something.
I have a male friend name Eila, too, pronounced "E-Lah", so maybe that's where I got it from? Was wondering if I was the only one to mis-pronounce!
E - Leah
I actually know someone by this name, it's pretty
meredithcole:I'd say it differently than anyone else here - I was pronouncing it as Ee-lee-ah (like Celia without the C) in my head. Not sure how they're getting the Aaliyah pronunciation from Elia, since it's spelled with an E, but to each his or her own.
That's what I was thinking. Like Elin, Tiger's ex-wife. Or like Elian Gonzalez.
punkrockabye:I read it as uh-lye-uh. Like of like Elias for a boy. Or maybe I just have Elias wrong? haha.
