C-sections

Sex... it's driving me crazy waiting!

Okay, so I have had a really easy recovery. Which surprised me very much! I had the c-section late Wednesday night (27th) and by that Monday (2nd) I was already able to sit up on my own, get around, cleaned the house up, did dishes and some laundry, and aside from some back pain from the spinal and some discomfort from the staples still being in I was perfectly fine. Now a week and half out I feel perfect, just the occasional stinging at the incision site, but no pain or anything. I was told that my doctor did an amazing job "cleaning me out" and so I do not have heavy bleeding at all, it is lighter than some periods I have had in the past. So feeling so great is like a total JOKE because I still can't have sex, and let me tell you I've wanted to since last week...

Anyone jump in and do the deed before six weeks?! I know they say there is a risk of infection, but I don't see that it is very high if you are hygienic about it and use a condom. And of course take precautions that you don't do any strenuous or crazy positions. Is there a concern with orgasms being to much on the uterus? If not would foreplay be acceptable in the mean time? DH and I are both ready, and It's driving me crazy!!! Any advice?

  • We jumped it and had sex at 4 weeks pp.  It was uncomfortable the first couple of times and we had to take it slow. I don't think I would have done it sooner than that.  I'm a stickler though, and usually follow rules!  Foreplay...maybe focus some loving on him until later.

  • It is still really early. If you overdo it physically (just regular activity-not talking sex), you run the risk of pain, opening your incision, getting tired...There is a reason doctors tell you to wait 6 weeks.

  • I've been cleared for sex at 2 weeks PP all 3 times so far. And no, we have never waited 6 weeks.......

  • We waited 3 weeks pp. But it was just the once and had no problems. We didn't DTD again until 6 weeks pp because we were afraid of causing any problems.
  • I also had a c section, and was back doing the deed at 4weeks pp.  I felt great at 4weeks.
  • We did it at four weeks - probably could have at three but I was afraid (and tired and overwhelmed with taking care of a newborn, LOL).  By the way it didnt hurt at all and was probably the best sex we've had in a year.  For me pregnancy sex was horrible so we just avoided it altogether.  So it was a nice surprise to be back in the game sooner rather than later.

  • uh, no...no desire at all.  we waited at least the 6 weeks but I think it was closer to 8 weeks when we tried it.  It felt like sand paper and was painful.

  • No, I waited. I had no desire to get an infection just because I wanted sex. We did foreplay before the 6w was up, but nothing in there. They don't say nothing in there for 6w just to torture you. Then again, I trust the person who went to medical school and I didn't.

This. You all are crazy. Maybe I'm just old, but I could not think about anything except nursing, sleeping and please let me take a shower-and Oh, yeah, did I eat today? Sex...no, no, no, no, no...

haha...love this! yeah, sex was the last thing on my mind as well. I took lots of naps because i was exhausted and recovering from a surgery.  I still don't think about sex that much.  Maybe my hormones never went back to normal:)

  • We did it at 4 weeks (and I had pushed for 2 hrs but no tearing) and it was fine. I wouldn't use a condom but that's just me. I hate them! I second what the PP said about not overdoing it. You can be 2 weeks out and do too much and you will pay for it, so just be careful :)

  • I cannot wait to be back in action with DH but we are waiting for my birth control to kick in I had several health problems with this pregnancy which will be fixed with a surgery in a few weeks but they cannot do it if I'm pregnant. Knowing my luck I'd get pregnant right away

  • My husband and I started having sex again five weeks after my c-section, after I had pretty much gotten over the pain of the operation.  Sex weirded him out during the last month of my pregnancy, so we hadn't had sex in over two months by that time.  We were slow and careful about it, but it was definitely an amazing night.  While we were "intimate" without having sex up until that point, it felt really good to have the full level of intimacy back, and I didn't have any pain or other problems afterwards.  I wouldn't recommend sex any sooner than four weeks after delivering, but I think after that point, provided you don't have any other health concerns or complications, it's okay as long as you take it slowly and listen to your body.  :)

  • I still haven't felt up to it since the twins were born :)

I think we did everything but sex for a while, thinking it was just around six weeks before we did.  And then probably waited another six weeks, lol.
