Food storage question.

So last night after dinner I put the leftovers in containers and set them on the counter to cool.  Five hours later I remembered and stuck them in fridge.

Good to eat or toss?  Part of me thinks if I'm reheating it (to hot, not warm) then I should be good, but the other part of me wonders what the heck could have grown in there while it sat out.

Thoughts?

Re: Food storage question.

  • Non-pregnant = I would totally eat it anyway.   Pregnant = not a chance.  Food poisoning while pregnant sounds awful.

  • I have to agree with PP. I wouldn't take the chance now, although pre-pregnancy I probably would have eaten it :) I know it seems like a waste of food, but maybe someone else it the household would eat it? Again, I just wouldn't risk it while pregnant.

  • What was the dinner?  I think it depends on what food it was.

Depends on what it was. After reheating I'd probably make my husband taste it first to see if it's okay. He claims to have an iron stomach. ;)
