Bad cough

DS just woke up with a cough where he seems to miss a breath with. We gave him Tylenol and he seems fine now, running around the room with DHS at 11:30 p.m. Why is he struggling for breath inbetween?

    DS woke up a few days ago with what I swore was croup or whooping cough, a deep seal sounding cough, we panicked and went to ER, they did chest xray and gave us antibiotics and a nebulizer. The nebulizer has worked wonders, He was gasping for breath in between coughing fits and after the first treatment in the ER he was breathing at 100%. Otherwise, she said warm steamy shower will help too. His breathing would be labored after a coughing spell only though so if your DS is doing this even when at rest, I'd get him checked out
