DS loves "Elmo's Potty Time" and he's put pee and poop in the potty a few times, just not consistantly. I have a 10-month old DD, and #3 is due at the end of November... so we're hoping to potty train sometime this summer so we don't have 3 in diapers.
As I haven't fully started training yet, I can't say as to a method, but I have been given tips:
1. During summer, no pants/diapers helps... you and he can see/feel when he's about to go and can rush him to the potty.
2. Don't do diapers when training, he'll get confused (although I'm planning on doing diapers at night/nap and training pants (thick cotton underwear) otherwise).
3. Give him lots of drinks you might not normally (sugary, sweet, etc.) and take him every 10-15 minutes and "celebrate" when he goes, possibly giving a reward. We're doing a marshmellow for a poop and an m&m for a pee. **ETA: don't punish for having an accident/not making it to the potty.**
4. To go with #2 and #3, pick a definite start date and spend at least a week focusing on the training... but don't force it if he screams/absolutely resists.
Also, not necessarily a tip, but DS likes to use the big boy potty with an insert instead of the little potty my MIL bought him... maybe let him choose how he wants to go, take him to the store to pick out his potty-training gear. (Right now, he sits for both and I figure when he has more control and is taller DH can teach him to stand and aim... for which I hear putting cheerio's or something for him to aim at is helpful)
That's all I've got for now... maybe (if I can remember) I'll come back and update when we've actually started.
I noticed you posted this at the end of May... have you started? Do you have any tips?
