Re: ***Pregnant >35 check in***

  • Biggest pet peeve. Couldn't say. I actually have a lot of them. Since I've been pregnant, I get annoyed really easily! Maybe...I'm staying with my parents until I can get established financially (I can afford 900 in rent or child care, not both and can't leave this area until DD is out of high school), and I'm a total neat freak. I HATE finding clothes left in the wash. We live in San Antonio, and you just can't DO that. It makes the clothes mildewy and smelly. Add to it that it's a front loading washer and I'm 5'10" and 35w pregnant...I hate carrying a bunch of clothes to find the washer occupied with clothes that have to be rewashed.

  • Biggest pet peeve is  pessimism.  EVeryone gets down once in a while, but when people can never see the up side of things or when they believe everything is happening to them instead of because of them I get FRUSTRATED.  My ex was this way, nothing was his responsibility or could be changed because it was out of his hands fate was controlling his crappy life.  UHG.

No news to share, except I am ready to be DONE being pregnant.  IF I don't go on my own, We are going to induce Monday the 30th at 40w 3days.

  • QOTW: What is your biggest pet peeve? Has it changed since you've gotten pregnant?

My biggest pet peeve is mothers who just aren't friendly. I understand if you are at the playground and don't want to strike up a conversation but at least acknowledge the other person by smiling or saying hello.  It just seems like people aren't as friendly anymore. This really hasn't changed since i've been pg.

I am feeling so much movement! I never felt this much with my dd. It is awesome!

  • My biggest pet peeve is running up an unexpected debt before the baby comes.  It is stressing me out trying to make the financials work out.  I will be 34 weeks pregnant on Tuesday.  I feel big.  I feel like the baby is on my lungs and that I have heartburn.  So I also just wish that I felt better being pregnant.

I was on hospital bedrest for the past couple of weeks, but I had a good ultrasound on Friday and got released back to home.  It is a waiting game at this point.

Oh and I thought of another pet peeve--"Advanced Maternal Age"--it makes me feel like I am "Over the HIll and Pregnant".

  • Biggest pet peeve.... it's tough to pick just one!  A big one for me is stupid drivers.  Is it necessary to pass me on the left when I'm making a left-hand turn!  And do you have to speed down the street doing 50 in a 25 mph zone?  And people who don't pick up after their dogs.  Bring a bag with you, your dog's crap doesn't belong on my lawn.

Anything new.....  starting to tell friends that I'm pregnant.  It feels so good!

  • QOTW: What is your biggest pet peeve? Has it changed since you've gotten pregnant?

I have a LOT of pet peeves, but my absolute biggest one is people who chew food with their mouths open and/or make smacking noises while they eat.  It literally repulses me and I cannot sit near someone eating like that.  Don't think that one will ever change.

Any updates or news to share?

I am freaking out a little bit after my last OB appt on Friday b/c I've become convinced that I'm not going to be able to have the natural birth experience that I want without having to fight my doctor on everything at the hospital.  There are three docs who rotate on-call.  I talked with them earlier on about wanting a natural birth, but didn't get into details because I hadn't done my research and didn't have a birth plan yet.  Of course they all said they were natural-birth friendly and I let myself be lulled into a false sense of security.

I knew that one of the three docs would probably be harder to work with, one would be better, and the third was brand new and I didn't know her at all but she's younger so I thought she would be more open to it.  Well, I had my appointment on Friday with the newer doc and she was SO conservative in her approach that I now have a 2/3 chance of getting a doctor that I hate and will have to fight with at my delivery.  She actually said "I can't deliver the baby unless you are lying on your back" ---  um, then maybe you need to get into another line of work.

There is one midwife group that my insurance covers and I spoke with them this morning-- they will take me as a transfer this late, but only if I can get my entire file from the OB's office this week.  Well I called the OB this morning and was told that the person who deals with records and files won't be in until late Tuesday afternoon, and there is NO ONE else in the office who can help me get my file, and their standard turn-around period is one full week to get it.  So now I'm not sure if I can make this change happen or not.  I hate that my biggest concern about labor has to be dealing with my own doctors, and am seriously kicking myself for not making a change sooner.

  • QOTW: What is your biggest pet peeve? Has it changed since you've gotten pregnant?

Biggest pet peeve are slow drivers/bad drivers, the ones that hang out in the left lane going 56 mph in a 55 with a line of cars behind them - either completely oblivious to everyone around them or thinking that they have every right to be in that lane and are teaching people to drive slower - seriously - almost every state has a law regarding motorists to move to the right lane if going slower than the flow of traffic, not the speed limit, but the flow of traffic.  Or when they move into your lane when there are no other cars on the road for no apparent reason.  AGHHH.

Any updates or news to share?

We have our NT scan at 3:30 today, super excited to see our baby on the u/s for so long.  I am trying not to worry about any negative results/odd's and just enjoy the u/s with DH.

  • QOTW: I have a lot of pet peeves but if we're talking about drivers, I absolutely hate tailgaters (I drive fast enough) and I hate people who pass on the shoulder on a city street...like seriously, it is city traffic and no matter how aggressive you drive, I will still always be right behind you because that's how the lights work!

Updates: basically just sitting put and hoping this pregnancy progresses. My next appointment is not until the 8th week with the OB.  No ultrasound until after that appointment. Sigh.

    1. People who smack their gum - these days I am very tempted to smack the gum right out of their mouth. 2. Rude people at the store - yes, I am pregnant folks, I am going to be walking slow!  Don't run me over because I am in your way or make remarks while passing me.

Any updates or news to share?

This is going to be the longest six weeks of my life!  We did tour the hospital the other day - love the place because it is much closer to our home but (and this is going to sound really snotty) I don't like the bathrooms in the hospital rooms.  The shower is just over in the corner of the bathroom with a shower curtain you pull out and some ugly plastic seat that you pull down to sit on.  I mean come on - this is a brand new hospital and they cheaped out on the showers???  The rooms are so nice and then I walked in and saw that.  I know my insurance is going to be charged a freaking arm and a leg for my hospital stay and I have a crappy shower?    blech....

I have a ton but I suppose the biggest are

~People that don't use their turn signals ~When someone sitting near me chews their food really loud. ~When my DH leaves dirty dishes in the sink and doesn't put them in the dishwasher ~When my DH decides to wash dishes and then misses spots and has the nerve to get pissed when he sees me re washing them. UGH!

I had my NT scan on Friday. It was great to be able to see the baby for so long. The tech thought the measurements looked great which gave me some relief but I'll feel a lot better once the official results come back. We also finished telling friends/family over the weekend and made a small announcement on fb, it's been a lot of fun seeing all of the congratulations messages!

  • QOTW: What is your biggest pet peeve? Has it changed since you've gotten pregnant?

Negativity.  I HATE NEGATIVE NELLIES!  I can almost always find the silver lining in every situation and CANNOT STAND those that NEVER see the bright side of anything.  FTR, the whole world is not stacked against you people.  If you don't like something, change it and if you can't change it, then change your crappy attitude.  You totally get out what you put in, so if you approach everything with a negative attitude, you will bring on all kinds of negative energy and crappy things will happen to you.

Yes, I realize that crappy things happen to those with a positive attitude, believe me.  I should be having a baby in about a week, but unfortunately suffered a m/c last October.  It sucks, but if that hadn't happened, I wouldn't be pg with this lo right now -- that's my silver lining to a totally crappy situation.

Any updates or news to share?

I got the report from my first u/s on Thursday.  Lo was measuring 7w1d, which is pretty much right on target.  Saw a gorgeous hb (178).  I am scheduling my nt scan today for May 21.  I see my doc again May 9.  In the meantime, I hope the nausea goes away and that I find some energy somewhere to entertain my mother on the weekend.  She is coming to visit and I AM NOT telling her about this pg until after the NT scan.  With my loss (11w) we had just told our families 3 days before and I DO NOT want to have to untell anyone anything, so we are keeping it to ourselves until after 12w.

    BFP#1 03/01/09 Carter arrived at 9lbs even on 11/11/09

    BFP#2 08/24/11 missed m/c 10/09/11 D&C 10/12/11 @ 11w

    BFP#3 03/17/12 Ashton arrived at 5 lbs 10 oz 8 weeks early on 10/10/12

QOTW: I hate bad drivers, specifically people who drive the wrong way in a parking lot and people who don't move when there is a lane closure ahead.  Did we miss that big, orange, blinking arrow until we were sitting under it? UGH.  I also hate it when people just correct mistakes or post their infor on the check in list and then don't answer the damn questions.

The driver thing hasn't changed since being pregnant, but the check in thing obviously has.

Updates: Had an NST this morning at the doctor.  Non-stress my asss.  I HATE them.  I always get so worried that her heart (and Nathaniel's when i did them with him) was going to stop or that they'd whisk me away for an emergency c/s because the baby is in distress.  Only 10 more weeks to go and next week we schedule the RCS!!!!  Also, my friend called this afternoon to see if June 2nd would be a good day for a "sprinkle" for me.  It's going to be at my house due to the BR issue, but I am excited.  Of course, then I looked around the house and saw nothing but the mess... but DH has a month to clean the carpets so it should all be good!

  • Biggest pet peeve - crappy drivers. The ones that don't signal, cruise through yellow lights really slow and give you dirty looks when you're light is green but you have to wait for THEM... the ones that are too busy on their cell phones to check their mirror (and I'm not anti cell phone, I just HATE the ones that refuse to use a hands free, and LEAN on the phone like a cruch for their head).

Always been ppl who talk too much, esp about themselves.  Like with a group of ppl and all they do is talk about themselves/their experiences... totally irritating - shut up already!  Hasn't really changed since being preg just makes my skin crawl more!

Any updates or news to share?

No updates... baby just getting more active!

  • OOTW:  My biggest pet peeve lately is excess noise.  I just can't stand people being loud for loudness sake.  There needs to be greater emphasis put on peace and quiet at times.

News:  Nothing new.  I have my second appointment this Thursday and I'm really looking forward to seeing LO again and hopefully seeing that everything is coming along as it should.  Will probably schedule my NT scan at that appointment.

And if ONE more person TELLs me that I'm having a girl because of how I'm carrying (btw, it's a boy!) or tells me that my baby is going to be HUGE, I might just have to go postal on them! <end rant>

Any updates or news to share? Still finishing up work and due in FIVE days. Because of my "advanced maternal age" (ugh), they will likely admit me Sunday night to begin induction if he doesn't come on his own by then. And lastly, I am SO LOVING the feel of him moving inside me. It gets better and better with every single day!! I will SO MISS having him inside me like this. I look forward to meeting him but this has been the greatest thing about pregnancy... and my LIFE!

Like others on here I do have many. My biggest is probably people who are just not aware of what is going on in the world. Look at Yahoo, or CNN once in awhile and know what is going on these things do effect you.

Nothing to report, holding steady until next appointment  in a few weeks.  We still haven't told anyone yet Hard to keep my mouth shut when people ask what's going on.

Wow, I have a lot.  Most things I can brush off and just be thankful that the people doing the most annoying things are not people that I associate with on a regular basis.  What really annoys me though are when people I know and like or extended family make assumptions about gender roles as they pertain to my household.  This has only intensified now that I am pregnant.  My job title is not impressive sounding, but I make substantially more $ than my husband, and am the one with healthcare benefits etc. and the two of us are happy with our situation, yet EVERYONE assumes that because my husband is a lawyer everything we have is because he provides it.  Now with the baby the assumption is that I can/should quit my job, I should get rid of my sportscar and get the minivan etc.  In reality my husband works for himself as a solo practitioner, so he has the more flexible schedule etc.  To me how much money we make and how we divide up household chores and childcare is no one else's business, but it is frustrating all the same when people assume I am slacking in my domestic duties AND assume I am not the breadwinner.  I would never belittle my husband by explaining this to my inlaws, so I usually just say that we don't really have a choice, that I have to work because we have a mortgage and healthcare insurance is expensive and things are just more expensive than they were when they were starting a family.

I only have 12 days until my due date!  I can't believe it after all these years and all we have been through.  It just seems so surreal.  Last night I had contractions 10-15 minutes apart for 3 hours and then they stopped.  These were not like the normal Braxton Hicks I have had before.  These started in my lower back and moved to the front so things could be kicking into a new gear.  We are pretty much ready.  I am wrapping things up at my office and have started taking everything I might need during my leave home with me every night just in case.  I think the last time I updated our baby was breech and I was freaking out a bit.  Our doula made appointments for every natural way to flip a baby, (chineese med - moxi, acupressue, chiro webster method, a session in a pool to do summersaults/headstands), and my Dr. scheduled a version, but the night after we found out he was breech we tried the OWT where we positioned a light over my pelvis and my husband put his head in my lap and talked to our son.  Within minues we could see, (from the outside of course), him rotate 180 degrees and go head down.  It was the craziest thing ever.  My husband now calls himself "The Crotch Whisperer".  I got in for an ultrasound the next day to confirm.  I am so relieved.  Hopefully my natural birth plans are all a "go" from here on out.

Mine is repetitiveness. Ask me the same question repeatedly and I'm liable to bite your head off. I feel sorry for my kids.. :( I also can't stand the sound of stove/bathroom fans. Drives me insane and of course dh loves to leave them both on.. o.O

Any updates or news to share? 34 weeks tomorrow. Diagnosed with GD about a month ago and so far it's been pretty manageable. Starting to get really hot here and I've turned into this massive sweaty beast that needs to shower twice a day at the bare minimum. As much as I want to be done with the pregnancy I'm afraid of  birth and have talked to the baby and told him he can stay in as long as he wants.. dh says I'm going to turn him into a mama's boy in utero.. my response.. So.. ?
