... I read about one more person with a pre-term baby wanting to induce labour.
There is a reason that babies are carried to 40 weeks (sometimes more!) and as uncomfortable as we all are getting, without sound medical reasoning there is no need to be selfish and wish/attempt to get LO out.
There are serious fetal developments that happen in those last few weeks and I can't imagine how this makes the mamas who have had preterm babies (some of which are still in the NICU requiring extra care) feel when people are wishing preterm labour on themselves. There are babies born premature and preterm that require increased care, support through the NICU and who sometimes have serious mental and physical retardation because of their early arrivals. Some preterm babies also do not make it. I can't imagine wishing this upon anyone, not even myself.
I understand that there is the occasional medical reason to induce early for the safety of mother and baby, but when it comes down to it, as uncomfortable as you are, LO needs to stay put for as long as they can.
Yes, we are all getting uncomfortable and grouchy, but we signed up for this whole pregnancy thing. It has it's ups and downs, but please, PLEASE, stop being selfish and think about the baby that you are carrying inside of you right now and how important it is to keep them there.
Flame away if you must, but this is a board where we are supposed to be able to share our feelings and opinions - this just happens to be mine. I know I am not the only one feeling this way.
