I know there are a zillion girl names that end in "y" or that make that "ee" sound. Since the only input DH has given me so far is that he would like a name that ends that way, I'm trying to come up with some options.
My problem is that a lot of girl names ending in "y" sound cutesy for my taste. I realize this may sound hypocritical since my DS is called Robbie, but that's just a nickname that I expect him to outgrow. He can always go by the more adult Rob or Robert.
I like my name (Hilary) and my sister's name (Cecily). A couple more that I like are Audrey and Heidi. I love Ruby, but that would obviously sound ridiculous in a sibset with Robbie. Some examples that are not my style are Kylie, Mackenzie, Paisley, etc.
Can you give me some of your favorite classic or uncommon names ending in "y" or the "ee" sound? I'd prefer 2 syllables, but 3 is okay. I think 4 is too many with our last name. I'd be okay with a semi-popular name, but want to avoid the top 25 or so.
On a unrelated note, wasn't there a post on this board where people listed names they liked from the "beyond the top 1000" names? I've tried reading through the whole list, but there's so much nonsense in it that I've probably glossed over some good names. If I could have a link to that post, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Re: classic girl names ending in "y"
I wouldn't really qualify my name as "classic" but it has been around long enough: Holly. Or the very similar, Molly.
One name I love is Lily.
Daphne
Romy
Amy/Aimee
Briony
Ivy
Mary
Poppy
Zoe
ETA: Many of these would not be considered classics either.
Felicity
Emily

EDIT: I just read in your OP that your sister is Cecily. So scratch that, unless you want to give her a namesake

Well the two that came to mind were Abby (which is really more of a nickname) and Lucy (my DD) - but that might be too cutesy for you.
My name is Sadie. Not sure how "classic" that is.
This was my DH's input too. He likes the Y ending. here are some that were on our list...
Amy (which we chose?simple and not too popular anymore)
Ellie
Mae
Jenny (just Jenny, no full name)
Audrey
Lilly
Emily
Julie
Annie
Mallory
Sidney
Lacey
Ashley
Carly
Allison (Allie)
Evelyn (Evie)
Elaina (Lainey)
Adeline (Addie)
Elizabeth (Libby)
Camille (Millie)
First one that came to my mind is Carrie. Daphne is also nice. Dorothy, Ivy, Josie, Laurie/Lori, Mary, Marie, Marlee, Milly/Millie, Nellie, Sallie/Sally, Sadie.
More contemporary but not trendy: Valerie, Wendy
I can think of a lot of nicknames that end in "y" but that's it for formal names. I don't consider Katie a stand alone name.
Beyond 1000 - it starts at 1 though.
