December 2011 Moms

Am I the only one

who doesn't feel the need to complain about everything pregnancy related? I know everyone is nearing the end of their pregnancy's and these are the most uncomfortable times, but still I am 36 weeks today and am happy to be pregnant, don't want baby to come out yet, and love talking about/being asked about my pregnancy.

Re: Am I the only one

  • I'm miserable and I'm ready to meet my baby. I am sick of being asked about my pregnancy and the comments "you look like you're about to pop!"

I wish I felt like you do. Kudos, Mama.

I noticed you are almost 40 weeks! This gives me hope I have a chance of not getting the "get this baby out of me" blues in a couple weeks!!! Thanks!

  • I am with you! I am actually going to miss being PG... don't get me wrong, excited to meet LO, but content to let nature take its course!

  • I felt great at 36 weeks and waas happy to be pregnant.  I'm still happy to be pregnant but ready to have my little one and ready to be able to begin getting some quality sleep and be able to sleep somewhere other than the recliner with ice on my a**.  Wink

I think a lot of us who do have gripes are just trying to find out if anyone else is having the same issue, and what they are doing about it.  It does not mean that we haven't enjoyed being pregnant, it doesn't mean that we want our babies to come sooner than they are ready, it means we are tired, sore, uncomfortable, emotional and ready to meet our babies.

I'm not trying to be rude but until you've walked in some of these ladies' shoes, you have no idea what they are going through, and shouldn't judge.

  • Its possible!  I feel as good as I did at 20 weeks...cant complain!  And for us, the more kids we have the less anxious we are towards the end...which helps A LOT.

  • You're not the only one. I'm right there with you. I've been in lots of pain...but expected that to come with a full term pregnancy. I can't say I've loved being pregnant but if LO isn't ready to come out yet I support his decision. Smile

  • I'm still feeling good and happy!

As much as I'm looking forward to having my baby, I'm savoring the last days of non-motherhood.  I've been blessed that my pregnancy discomforts have been minor.

  • I know everyone is different and we really all have good days and bad. A week ago I wanted to bawl b/c baby isn't here and I'm tired of being huge. This week I'm feeling fine, enjoying the last few weeks of baby in my belly. It's a bond only you and the baby share and its awesome :)  I don't want to look back and think about all the bad. I'm trying to be more optimistic as time winds down.

  • I wish I was feeling good... This pregnancy has been a rollercoaster and with a 15 month old to care for it has not been as enjoyable as the last go around. I'm glad that not everyone is having a tough time though cause I wouldn't wish that for anyone.

  • I'm still feeling good but occasionally want to complain.  Up until 2 weeks ago, I was totally fine!  Now that the end of pregnancy is so near, it's definitely a little bitter-sweet.  I will miss being pregnant but can't wait to have LO in my arms!

We have to remember that pregnancy affects everyone so differently.  I don't think any 2 people have the exact same experience.  Sometimes it just feels good to whine and know that someone else has been there and understands.

  • I'm over the whole happy to still be cooking vs I want this baby out now debate. I will say from 36 weeks to 38 weeks things changed a lot and u start to see the other side. Some days Are better than others do I'm on different teams depending on the day and I'm ok with that

  • It comes and goes for me! Some days I feel great and have lots of energy, other days I feel terrible and everything aches... mostly I think it's because I can't rest whenever I want to, my sweet but very active little 2 y/o boy sees to that! haha.

  • I have all the pains and discomforts, but no real complaints. He can stay put as long as he needs too, just don't decide to come in the middle of a snow storm!

I feel like I have so much I want to do before he's here anyway.

I'm most uncomfortable laying, and getting out of a laying position. So I put off going to bed, and when I wake up, I sit in bed for awhile because otherwise I really can't stand up/support myself yet. The heartburn sucks too, but I have a prescription to take for that. I just need to actually take it before I need to.

But, this is what I signed up for. When people ask how I am, I say fine. If somebody pries, and asks if I have any discomfort yet, I laugh and say of course I do!

Thanksgiving I actually  did just that, and my grandma said that she would pray for me. Pray for what, an early baby? I don't want him to come because I'm uncomfortable, I want him to come because he's ready!

However, I totally understand people feeling "done" with it all.

  • I am feeling great at 36 weeks as well! I want this baby to keep cooking as long as he or she wants. I really don't want baby coming before the 22nd because that's my last day of work (due date is the 28th), but it would be nice to have a baby before the new year :)

I am not sick of people asking about my pregnancy but I am sooooo sick of other Mom's telling me "how much I'll miss being pregnant", "how they miss being pregnant", AND "babies love this and this and this...so make sure you have those things". First of all I'm pretty sure once the baby is born I will be happy to get my shape back. As cool as it is to feel baby kicking I'll be ready to not feel jabs that sometimes hurt! AND does EVERY baby like baby swings or diaper warmers or all this stuff "expert" Mom's seem to know. I am sorry it just gets under my skin when other Mom's (especially those who haven't even been a Mom for a year) think they know EVERYTHING about taking care of a baby. That goes along with people handing over babies to me and say, "here you need to practice". NO I don't need any practice thank you...I've been around babies enough with cousins and OH yeah I worked at a daycare for 5 years! UGH!

Okay enough of my rant. But I am feeling great for being 36 weeks pregnant. Then again I hate to hear other people complain so when my cankles hurt, my back aches, and it feels like someone threw a bowling ball at my vagina I try to stay positive and think that other people have it way worse in other situations of their life. Why b*tch when you are the one who wanted to have a baby to begin with?

This pretty much sums up how I am feeling. I am tryng to enjoy the last bit of pregnancy I have left, but am anxious to meet our little girl and want to meet her soon. I also don't want her to be born too close to Christmas for a variety of reasons, including her birthday not being too close and hopefully, so I can try to get a couple of days under my belt so we can have a wonderful first Christmas as a family of 3. I am so excited to meet her and really feel that she is ready to come out, so don't feel bad about having some spicy food and some extra sex. I enjoy both, so if that helps, great and, if not, well, it was fun trying :)

  • Right now my DD and my doctor are sick so I hope LO stays in there until at least his due date. I'm pretty much counting on going 41+ weeks and if he comes sooner, awesome! I'm definitely uncomfortable and miserable and do complain sometimes, but I'm not ready for him to come out just yet.

  • I think I'm just getting tired of the whole "you're still here?" questions. While I was taking a bath last night, baby decided to just stttrrrreeeetttccchhh his little legs out and I told him "you must be as uncomfortable as mommy is..maybe it's time for both of us to be comfortable" lol.

Don't know if that will do much, but I'm hoping he's here soon. I'm doing a countdown at work.

  • I am still feeling pretty good too! My first pregnancy, I was twice the size I am now and so miserable all I could think about was getting the baby out!!!! Even with a wild 2 year old who requires 2 outings a day, I still feel better this time. I am in no rush at all. I remember all to well how hard the first few weeks were last time. Worth every minute but, really hard.......So for now, I am enjoying every minute I have left before I start my diet and how nice and friendly strangers are to me.

  • I have my fair share of the normal late pregnancy issues, but overall I'm still doing really well.

Anytime I feel like complaining and feeling sorry for myself I remind myself and as much as it sucks right now, life is still a freaking CAKEWALK compared to life as a brand new mother! Not being pregnant anymore isn't going to make life magically all better, so I'm still making the very best of my days left without a newborn demanding my attention 24/7. I'm not getting much sleep now, but I can only imagine how incredibly tough it's going to be once Nugget is here!

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely excited to be a mother and cannot wait to love and care for my child, but I'm under no illusion (that some FTM's have) that not being pregnant anymore will make life instantly easier.

Oh and to the sensitive ladies who took offense to this... OP was in no way taking a dig at anyone else, but sometimes the complaining and negativity seem to be ALL we hear on here, so it's nice to know that not all of us are completely miserable... it's great to hear positivity!

Well said! Pregnancy can be a miserable time for some women. I have been throwing up three nights a week for nearly 9 months now, and yes. I am sick of it.
