Prego Symptoms - gone?

Has anyone else found that their symptoms have died down substantially?  I'm 8.5 wks pregnant and found that I probably only had about 1 - 2weeks of symptoms, and even then, they weren't "that" bad... and then I've gotten a lot better.  Almost like having no symptoms.... like I actually have been feeling pretty fantastic since 6.5 - 7 wks!

Not sure if i've just figured out how to avoid them,... lots of sleep, excercise and eating often! or if maybe I'm just following after my mom... she had 4 kids and said she never really ever had MS or other symptoms

Re: Prego Symptoms - gone?

  • I feel the same exact way!  I started getting sick at the 5th week. I was also experiencing cramps on my left side (no bleeding or spotting).  I was so nervous that I went to the doctor and had my first u/s at 5w5d.  The doctor confirmed the pregnancy and said he saw a heartbeat, but it was faint since it was so early.  I was very sick the 5th and 6th week...exhausted, nausea all day long.  The cramps disappeared midway into the 6th week.  I have an u/s scheduled for this Thursday...I'll be 8w1d.  I'm so nervous that something is wrong since most of my symptoms are fading.  I will say this...I still get tired way earlier than I used to and my boobs are still sore...but all in all, so much better.

This. Also pin a rose on the OP's nose for feeling great during 1st tri. Are you bragging or what? All of these 'I feel great' posts really chap my hide. You feel great? Well lucky you. Now STFU.

Um, reading between the lines just a little bit tells me that she's wanting reassurances that this is pretty normal, though her Mom's experiences back that up, too.  Sensitivity?

I didn't know "prego" was such an offensive term.

I don't think she was trying to be rude.  Everyone that has morning sickness hates it, and a lot (not me!) that don't have it are nervous about the lack of it.

  • I am 11 weeks and havn't really had any symptoms!  Besides sore breasts and the occasional crying fit, I feel just like I did before I was pregnant.  At about 8 weeks, I noticed some spotting that didn't go away, and my midwife advised me to have an ultrasound.  I got to see my little "peanut" and the heartbeat. It was a huge relief since I didn't have any "normal" pregnancy symptoms.  I just consider myself lucky that I don't have to spend my time in the bathroom being sick.

  • This is my third pregnancy and the first with true ms. Everyone is different. On that note, Ohh how I have missed first tri and the stupid things that come up. Why does it bother people to read prego instead of pregnant? If that is the case and it really bothers you then start typing out everything all of the way! No more ms for morning sickness, ect...

WOW, now was that unneccesary or what!?! I think it's pretty rude and ignorant... acutally you're being a real b-atch.  The reason I post and I assume others, is that I'm concerned maybe something isn't right, and maybe something is wrong. so really thanks for being such a rude cow.

    thank you.

  • Kristybell and dorthy, thanks again.  When I started getting symptoms, it was the sore boobs, exhaustion, and only minor naseua here and there. I'm like you 'ginamarie', now its really just I need to make sure I go to bed early as I get pooped out fast.... and occassional breast tenderness... not too bad really.

And also, sorry to those affended by "prego" I had no idea this was so offensive! Honestly. But i'll be more careful as to not offend... at least it can't be any more offensive then someone writing to "STFU"... mature, real mature

    1) These two words make you a hypocrite. Calling someone a 'rude cow' is, in fact rude, so welcome to the rude cow club.

    2) If you had lurked on the board a bit you would have realized that the words preggo and preggerz aren't very popular here.

    3) Also, if you had lurked for a little bit you would have realized that there is a ZOMGGGGGGGGGGG! I don't have m/s maybe I'm not really pregnant post about once per day. I realize that I should probably try to ignore it, but it gets really old for those of us who are really sick.

seriously?  You must have nothing better to do.... is this the pregnancy depression making you like this. I'm really sorry to hear about that.

Like you said it yourself. if there's posts out there that bother you, then ignore them.  Every day theres a post about "baby tickers", "new to the site", "how to tell your parents", etc etc etc. Don't harp these people because of it; thats what boards are for.  Just ignore what bothers you rather than being rude about it.

  • Seriously you are getting mad over a f*cking word? Grow up! She was asking a legitimate question.A lot of pregnant women worry when their symptoms disappear because those could be signs of a miscarriage.Yes, it does suck that you have morning sickness and all that but EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT.And in fact you were being rude and I probably would have said something a lot worse had I been the OP and you posted that s**t.The people on the The Bump boards are supposed to be helpful and supportive.God this just really pisses me off.

lpichach: I am so sorry that some people don't know how to be nice.I understand why you are concerned.I had a M/C before becoming pregnant with my little girl so I know how you feel.If you wanna ask any questions feel free to PM me.

Been compulsively on here for ~ 2 weeks, and haven't seen that complaint before.  Then again, maybe it's wrong of me to just JUMP in without lurking for weeks or months or whatever is acceptable.  I wanted to participate.

Had you considered, too, that maybe the posts about m/s have the same potential to annoy that the posts about the lack of m/s?  I mean, we're all hormonal and can take offense to anything.  I've become happier with my crazy hormones since I learned to start pausing to ask myself: "wait - am I really THAT upset about this?"

You have a long Bump road ahead if you think posts like this won't draw snark. I'm going to wait now for the obligatory "I thought this board was for support" post now.

  • Kinda new here too... what's so "offensive" about preggo and preggers?? I think what you mean to say is you just don't like it... there's nothing OFFENSIVE about it... Don't go bashing people for using a word you don't like. If I did that I'd be ranting on every post about breasts and nipples! You're with child- there's surely more for you to worry about in life other than how people refer to being pregnant.
  • I'm going to ignore the negative posts because I too had that moment of concern when my m/s (or in my case my afternoon & evening sickness) disappeared for a bit. I woke up feeling ok... managed to go grocery shopping ... and thought "hmm.. I can function.. this is strange". Now of course I should have been jumping up and down for joy because for once in a few weeks I felt slightly normal. However, there are plenty of posts out there about m/c's and how no more m/s can be a potential negative sign. Of course later on in the evening i began to feel the nausea and the lethargy and I realize that they hadn't disappeared altogether but it is getting better. Keep in mind that m/s might subside once you're nearing the second trimester although they might not. Unless you see bleeding or have horrendous cramping I would just breath a sigh of relief for any temporary moments/periods where your m/s are gone :)

As for the negative posts ... toss them aside.. and don't let them bother you. We are all hormonal here and in the same boat! SOme things will bother people a little more than others. Feel free to pm me if you'd like at any time!!

  • Responding to YOUR post and no one else's . . .

Yes! My first pregnancy was extremely healthy, LO just turned 9 months old. I only had m/s symptoms from weeks 5-8 and then they were instantly gone--never came back. I did get extreme fatigue after that, but I never felt sick again.

  • I get nervous about this all the time! I have read in pregnancy "books" that when you miscarry, your symptoms go away. However, like you, I only have a few symptoms (sore breasts, major mood swings and cravings). I don't think you are bragging, I think you just wanted some advice for the "just in case".

BTW, I get called pregos ALL THE TIME by friends who are not even mothers yet! I even write "prego" occasionally instead of writing the whole word! This is the 21st century!! YOUR FINE :)

  • THANK YOU  SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THOSE SUPPORTIVE POSTS!
As you understood, it was about the concern of miscarrying and worrying something was wrong. I very much appreciate your feedback as I think and agree, that is what these boards are for.  Again thank you ladies, and god bless :)
  • You are very welcome! We are all on the same boat. It's just called RESPECT!

  • I'm at 10 weeks and I can relate. My symptoms were almost non existent. Just sore breasts, minor food aversions and increased constipation (constipation has been something I've always struggled with). By week 8 I realized that they were gone, except for the constipation of course.

I called my doctor and told her I don't feel pregnant anymore, and she laughed. I went in anyway and insisted she use a Doppler on me so that I can hear the heartbeat. Took a while to find it, and I started to panic, but I finally heard it.

She said that I'm very healthy and my body must be responding better the the hormones and not to worry. Just worrying itself can cause problems. I have always exercised regularly and just had to tone it down to 140 bpm at least for the first trimester. I eat VERY healthy, no fried or fast food ever! But eat every 3 hours, even if it's a spoonful of cottage cheese w/jam. That DOES NOT mean that you are not healthy if you have severe symptoms.

EVERYBODY is different. And every pregnancy is different. I might not be as lucky with my second. Someone also told me that I must be having a boy. As it turns out, all my friends who had girls suffered through the first trimester. coincidence? Maybe, who knows!
