Trying to Get Pregnant

Does anyone NOT chart?

I feel like everyone is charting, except me. I tried it, but saw how much work goes into it. Too much for me, I think I'd over think it all by doing that. Kuddos to all you ladies that chart though, that's a lot of work. I suppose if I find myself having a hard time GKU then I will try it.

  • Taking a minute to put a thermometer in my mouth and then enter my temp into the computer really isn't that much work to me?

  • A lot of women like to know what is going on with their bodies (Like me). And, charting is an excellent way of finding that out. Many, many, many women conceive without ever charting a day in their life!

If you are curious to see what your body is doing but, don't want to worry over it daily, I would keep a pen and notebook (or calendar) by your bed and take your temperature daily and mark it down on the paper. And, when AF shows (hopefully not) then plug it in on FF. Then you can see the "bigger picture."

  • I do not, but I did the last time I was TTC.  But I do track CM and use OPK's with FF.

I do think its work.  It was stressful for me to remember, then write it down and get it to fertility friend. I hated it, don't want to do it again.  I don't think every one has to.  I've been keeping track of the past 14 cycles, I'm pretty good at knowing when I'm Oing all on my own.  And as long as you have sex 2-3 times per week, you're bound to catch your fertile window without knowing when ovulation happened.

  • It really isn't that much work.  I've been doing it for 11 years.  It's a few seconds in the morning to take the temp, about five seconds to enter it into the computer or write it on a paper chart and then an extra second in the bathroom to check cm and cp (if desired).  Charting takes about 1.5 minutes a day to do.  Obsessing over it for hours is entirely optional. ;)

  • I don't chart. I'm in if it happens it happens mode. Although charting may seem like a lot of trouble you might change your mind if you don't get pg in the first few cycles, as that can be very frustrating as well.

We'll see. I see myself charting if I don't get pg withing the first 6-8 cycles.

  • I just recently decided to start charting because we've been trying since January with no luck.  My issue was mostly that I'm a very light sleeper so I wasnt getting the 3 full hours of sleep before temping so my temps were everywhere.  Anyhow I'm def on board to start temping now!

This. I completely respect anyone's choice to not chart, but I don't understand when the reasoning is because "it's too hard" or "it takes too much time." Charting has added about 2 mins max to my daily routine and couldn't be easier IMHO.

I decided that I would chart midway through my first cycle because it was long. I am glad to know that I had information so that when I went to the Dr. during my second cycle, after CD 60, I was able to say that I hadn't O'd yet and thought it was possible that I didn't in the previous cycle either.

My Dr. sent me for blood work and an U/S and we have determined that I probably have PCOS. Without temping I could have wasted months "trying" when we need to see a specialist who can help me O. I think the information I've gained was so worth the time I've taken charting.

  • I don't chart.  I'm very regular and have ovulation pain.  This is my 2nd cycle of really TTC (3rd in total- but DH and I were OOT at different times the very first month we "tried" so I am not really counting it).  I got pg last cycle but ended up with a chemical pg.  Fingers crossed for this one!

  • I just couldn't imagine waiting half a year or more to start charting if I was actually serious about trying. For me is totally different to say "if it happens, it happens" then to say "yes, I am ready and want a child now." When we start again in 2 weeks we fall into the latter category.  It took me a few cycles of charting to get the hang of it and to realize how different each cycle could be. I want to do it now so when I get to the year mark I can tell/show my doctor what is going on. I don't check cervical position but the combo of CM, temping and opks is really pretty easy.

I do have to admit that when we start trying again next cycle that I will be more relaxed about charting was when we first started. Being on TB has made my expectations of getting KU in a certain time frame much more realistic.

  • I chart because my personality wouldn't allow me not to! I have to know what's going on and plan (or try to plan) accordingly. It does drive me crazy, though.

I do have a friend who didn't chart. She just had sex EOD for her whole cycle (after AF at least) and in less than a year she got pregnant twice. One ended in miscarriage. You have to do what is best for you.

We all started there.  But if you take some time up front and read the tutorials on FF it will really help you understand what you're looking for and how it all works.
