IUI cancelled- ovarian cyst, high estrogen

Hi everybody

I dont post often, as i am rather new to this site, however i wanted to know if anyone else has had a similiar experience. We went to RE for consult a few weeks back and decided clomid with IUI would be best and we would start this month. Today I went to my RE for my first cd3 workup. I have been having a dull, tugging pain by my hip bone for the past 2 weeks. I thought it was ovulation pain, however, as was discovered today at my sonogram, I have a large cyst on my left ovary. I was told to wait til 3pm today for bloodwork/USresults, to see if I could start clomid (as planned) tomorrow. Much to my disappointment, I was called and told that the my estrogen was high at 139. They said the cyst could be a cause of this and said to NOT START clomid  as I was scheduled to do. They said to go back in tomorrow to repeat bldwork/US, to see if the level has dropped at all, in which they would MAYBE start me on Clomid ( hence still do the IUI). Chances of proceeding this cycle are slim.

As I am sure many of u know, I was devastated. Ive been looking foward to this month for quite a long time! SO, my question is, has anyone ever had this? An ovarian cyst that has postponed IUI?

Thanks so much to all of u! And GOOD LUCK!

My IUI was cancelled today too for different reasons, still disappointing and frankly annoying that I pumped these drugs into me for no reason and feel bloated and emotional from them. GL to you!

This is exactly what just happened to me; altough, I am undergoing IVF treatment. I had my baseline u/s and they discovered a huge cyst on my right ovary...like you, I was also having some intermittent right-sided discomfort. My estrogen was 435, so I knew it was a functional cyst and they, of course, canceled. Interestingly enough, I was on BCP to prevent this from happening....go figure. Anyhow, I now have to wait until my next period before they will proceed with another IVF cycle.

I was pretty devestated, but after reading stories on here, I know it has happened to other ladies...it just sucks. Hang in there. Who knows, maybe you will still be able to follow through with your IUI this month....sending lots of T&Ps you way.

TTC #1 since March 2010 ME: Stage I Endo and DOR (FSH 11.4, AMH 1.4); DH: Low motility, varicocelectomy 04/2011; IUI #1 with clomid = BFN; IUI #2 with clomid = BFN; Moving on to IVF due to DOR... IVF #1 with ICSI October 2011 - canceled due to cyst; IVF #1 with ICSI November 2011 - ??

No personal experience, but wanted to send you a ((hug)). I am glad you were monitored and that they knew to stop. I have heard some horror stories of unmonitored clomid use and ruptured cysts causing a lot of damage. GL and I hope everything works out soon!!

I had almost the exact same experience with this IVF cycle. There was a cyst when they did my baseline ultrasound and my estrogen was high.  I had to go back on bcp for another 2+ weeks, and then they checked again, by which time the cyst was gone.

I know how disappointing and frustrating it is to have this happen.  It really does suck when you are ready to go.
