JaredandKatie:I used to get those very often when I was pregnant with DD. I would fly out of bed from a deep sleep because they hurt so bad. Drinking plenty of water and maybe a banana for the postassium before bed helps.
I was going to suggest water and potassium too. Also in the moment it will hurt and you will want to do anything but this, point your toes down (like if you were in ballet shoes). It always makes mine go away.

I used to have them all the time and it was from lack of potassium. I agree with bananas, and peanut butter too!
