Baby Names

Elizabeth Colleen. Is it too long?

H and I are finalizing baby names (right on top of it I know).

We may have a winner in this. Elizabeth ages well, simple, spelled right and we like the nickname options that go with it.

However, I want Colleen to be the middle name after my Mom. It's pretty much a non-negotiable at this point.

However, I worry if it's too long of a name. If it helps our last name is 5 letters, pretty common and easy to spell.

I like it.  It's not too long IMO.  My name growing up was Nicole Elizabeth LongItalianLastName, and I never had any issues :-)  Plus how often will she use her fn and mn together?  My guess is not very often  Wink

  • Love it, especially if you have a 1-syllable last name. They're both very pretty.

  • Thanks Girls! I feel better now that I've been affirmed. :)

I think it just seems long to me because our other contenders (Amy and Ruby) are short.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I love the nn Libby too

DH loves Libby too. I don't mind it either although Beth is more my preference. We'll see what happens if this baby is a girl!

  • Not too long at all.  I love Elizabeth Colleen, and my SIL is Kathleen Elizabeth.  Both beautiful and appropriate in length.
  • Not too long at all imo. My first name is 7 letters, middle name 8 letters and last name 8 letters.

  • I don't think it's too long at all.  It's a lovely name.  What are the boy names you've narrowed down to, if you don't mind me asking?

  • I don't think it's too long, especially with a 5 letter last name.  My FN is also Elizabeth, which is long; but growing up my maiden name was only 4 letters so it seemed to balance it out.

  • I think its perfect, and classic! But then, I like Felicity Noelle. I have a shorter, common last name so I feel comfortable with a longer first/middle name.
  • i love it, I think they sound good together.

We're still debating boys names. Intensely. That list is longer than our girls' names and H has some passionate opinions on boy's names.

Right now our top choices are Ryan David, Blake David, Adam David.

David is a non-negotiable as well.

    Totally not too long.

Although FWIW, I like Ruby Colleen the best :-)

That one is my favorite too, but H isn't in love with it at all. He said he'd let me "have" Ruby if it made me happy, but he's not sold.

I think it's fantastic... but Elizabeth is our girl name for #2, and Colleen is my middle name (which I kept after I got married).
